5/30/2018 - Vushaj is hired by ************* (seller of home) to repair sewer lines below the house. The work was poorly done and sloppily covered, but since I did not hire them I felt I did not have standing to complain. Vushaj did not contact the city to complete the final inspection and the permit remained open. As a result, an Occupancy Permit was never issued. 9/19/2023 - I was informed by University City Code Enforcement that Case **** was still listed as the owner. When I called to correct the paperwork, I was informed the house had no Occupancy Permit and I would be required to get a new Occupancy Inspection. 9/28/2023 - Occupancy Inspection is performed and failed. I was given 60 days to resolve all outstanding issues, one of which was the outstanding inspection that Vushaj did not call for. 10/2/2023 - I reach out to the realtor to find out how this happened. They are able to provide some context and agree to reach out to Vushaj in hopes of resolving the inspection. After multiple attempts, the realtor was not able to reach Vushaj in order to schedule. 10/24/2023 - The city inspector arrives at my house unannounced. Apparently Vushaj had called and scheduled the inspection without informing the realtor or consulting me, so it was sheer luck that I was home to receive him. Every step of this process has been deeply unprofessional and unsatisfactory. I am being threatened with illegal occupancy for Vushaj's carelessness. The city is threatening to remove me from my house over someone else's mistake. The sale contract for the house stated the Occupancy Permit would be taken care of by the seller, so I had no way to know this was an ongoing issue. It is also the responsibility of the contractor to schedule inspections and I am shocked this was ignored. I would like to be reimbursed for the cost of the inspections as well as the other repairs I have been forced to take on as a result. If Vushaj had done their job in 2018 none of this would be happening.
