I went in to cash a check after calling to make sure that they could do it on a Sunday. I was told yes they could. They asked for my id, and the check. The gentleman behind the counter got on the phone, made copies of both my check and my id, refused to cash the check, and refused to give me back the copy he had made of my check and id. I do not understand why they need a copy of my personal information if they did not perform a service for me. I have had my identity stolen before and am not comfortable with this. It does not seem like legitimate business practice to me.Business response

So our policy on new customers is to make a copy of their ck and id to put in our database system. My employee did so and also called me to verify if he was able to cash the ck. Since she was a new customer and I was not comfortable to cash the ck without verifying with the bank on Monday during normal business hours. At that time my employee told her that she would have to come back on Monday, at which time she said ok and walked out and the other employee shredded the copy of her ID and ck. After reviewing the camera footage the customer never requested her copy back and so my employee never refused to return to her copy.
