I was academically dismissed from ******** ****** ** ******* August 2021. My account was prematurely deactivated before the appeal deadline and I was not able to submit my appeal paperwork through original email. I emailed by request my documents to registrar email and was told that my paperwork would be reviewed. I contacted the student dean, student affairs Dean, and dean of the school with no reply back by phone or email. I later recieved a short email stating, " thanks and good luck on your future endeavors". I was in my 4 out of 5 term and was due for graduation. I failed by less than 1%. Now I am $55000 in debt with no degree or explanation on the reason behind the decision. I was left in the dark and still have not heard anything back until this day. I started Chamberlain School of Nursing now and basically have to start over and pay out of pocket. I need to talk to someone!Business response

Good Morning,
I am providing this email message in response to the correspondence related to a BBB Complaint (ID#********) from a former nursing student attending ******** ****** ** ******* who was dismissed due to academic failure in August 2021. The student was in the fourth term of her five term BSN undergraduate program. Throughout her program of study she had times where there were academic struggles. Faculty would communicate with her utilizing the Student Support Referral process and her Academic Advisor would attempt to reach out to her to offer support and provide resources to aid in her success. Often times the student would not respond to the outreach attempts by her Advisor or would do so after it was too late to provide remedial or proactive support. According to the policies related to academic dismissal, if a student “receives a failure in two different courses or fails the same course twice they will be academically dismissed.” Unfortunately, the student was ultimately unsuccessful in two different courses and was dismissed from the BSN nursing program. The student provided details regarding her reasons for reconsideration and appealed her dismissal with the College’s Student Affairs Committee. Subsequently the committee did not overturn the academic dismissal after reviewing the appeal. There is no process beyond the decision of the Student Affairs Committee that would alter the decision of the committee.
Kind Regards,

I am rejecting this response because:
I do not feel I had a fair chance at my appeal. My account was prematurely deactivated before I could submit my documentation through my student email. I understand the academic dismissal policy. However, in my second from final term I was academically dismissed for less than 1%. I believe it should have been taken into account the fact that as a student I had to teach myself during the impact of Covid.Even through the rough trails in my life. As far as reaching out, I found it hard to reach out and be open about my struggles. I wish i had the courage back then to know that i was not facing my problems alone. It really just hurt me due the the fact that Goldfarb express how we are a Cohort and family. I made it to the end to be not even recognized. I made my appeal, I wrote emails, left voicemail and never was spoken too by anyone. I feel I spent my money $55000 and had nothing and Noone to fall back on. By the grace of God I started over and did not give up. I just think moving forward there should be equality and understanding. There was also a woman in my class that withdrawn and failed multiple classes and was able to return. The only thing I got was good luck on my future endeavors. It is not right!
Sincerely,

Good Morning,
We are in receipt of the follow-up from the former nursing student regarding the response to BBB Complaint (ID#********). The premature deactivation of the student’s email account was mitigated by direct action taken by the Registrar’s Office. This allowed the student’s submission of relevant appeal documentation to meet the necessary deadline for consideration by the Student Affairs Committee. Subsequently the committee did not overturn the academic dismissal after reviewing the appeal. Again, there is no process beyond the decision of the Student Affairs Committee that would alter the decision of the committee.
Kind Regards,
