Fraudulent! Kathy Arnold Painting came out to do an estimate and during the estimating process, she and her painter tore pieces of my wallpaper in multiple rooms, damaging the walls. She then collected a retainer (2k) and did not return to do the work. She is holding $2k of my money and will not answer my calls or texts to either come and do the work I paid her to do or return the money! I am headed to small claims court to take action against her firm.Business response

Attached is Kathy's response that we sent earlier and, apparently, was misdirected.
In August of 2022, ****** ******** called me asking about painting a 1,600 Sq. Ft. Condominium she was purchasing. I had a large project in Illinois that we were working in and we are still working in. Th existing customer was going on a week's vacation (Sept. 9 to Sept. 13th), I had other projects to do, but ****** was insistent and seemed desperate. So, I told her told her that it was a medium to large project. We usually get these turned around fairly fast. ****** continued to urge me to help her out since she did not want to move into the unit unpainted,
****** told me that she would close on the property on September 7th at 9:00 AM. I went to see the Condo and it had a
"popcorn" ceiling and wallpaper she wanted to remove. I told herthat that made the project to difficult to do in 1 week. But ****** wanted to offer a Deposit and said that it was alright if we didn't complete the project in 1 week. She could wait to move in.
I took my subcontract Painter ***** ********* over to see the project.
******** Real Estate Agent, **** *******, told ****** that the Closing had been "moved back" to Thursday and needed additional paperwork be completed. After that, ****** notified me that the Closing had been moved back to Friday.
****** then gave me a check for $4,000 that was not made out to anyone. **** ********* actually signed the check, cashed it and gave me $2,000 (my half of the Deposit).
****** called on Friday night late and said that the Condo sale had not been completed there was some issue with the original Condo Association was getting sued and she could not get a VA Loan. Therefore, the sale was not completed.
The following week, ****** asked that her Deposit be returned. **** and I had lost a full week's work. On September 16th, 2022, I returned #2,000 to ****** of her Deposit and told her she would need to contact **** ********* to ask for the other half. However, **** was deprived of a full week's work and would not return the $2,000 that he had received.
