The store sign says prom special $279.99. The manager of the store refused to honor the price because he stated the deal is only for teenagers. Nothing on the advertisement suggest an age limit. It does not state anything that you can't be a chaperone for prom or anything to get the deal.

A customer came in on Saturday evening to inquire about our prom package.  And was told he was not off the correct age to go to prom . There are 2 large signs advertising this as a "Prom Package" that are clearly displayed. One is displayed outside the store and one is displayed in our store.( see attached pictures).  Customer even admitted that it was a prom special in his complaint. The sign in the window also indicates that a student ID is required. Our store has offered a " Prom Package " for a number of years to young men of high school age. Prom is a highlight of the high school experience and we wanted to make sure that these young men and their parents were able to purchase a suit/tux for such an important event. They will take these memories with them into  their adult lives. This offer is not designed for a " chaperone for prom " or any other reason.  We apologize that the customer feels that he should get a deal that is obviously not meant for him . We feel that we have advertised this correctly and even indicated that we need to see a student ID to get deal . Thank you for your time .

I am rejecting this response because:

As you can see, the sign located in front of the store does not indicate a specific age.  It only indicates a sale for prom season.  It is a matter of age discrimination which is illegal.  If the store does infact require a student ID then it should have been mentioned or displayed on all advertising.  Even college students are provided student IDs  Even faculty are provided school IDs.  What is the location of the sign requiring the student ID? It was not near the store front at all. It seems very misleading and discriminating and falsely advertised.  Regardless if the store has offered the deal for years for a good cause it should be advertised in a way that isn't misleading.
