Additional Information for Sit N Sleep 4 Less

In September 2021, Better Business Bureau questioned Sit N Sleep 4 Less, a/k/a Blitz Crazy Deals', Facebook page which advertised a going out of business sale. 

The BBB Code of Advertising states, “Emergency or distress sales, including but not limited to bankruptcy, liquidation and going-out-of-business sales, must not be advertised unless the stated or implied reason is a fact; be limited to a stated period of time; and offer only such products or services as are affected by the emergency.  Where the advertiser states that it is going out of business or closing down, it must actually be going out of business or closing down.  Where the advertiser is not going out of business or closing down, it can advertise that it is ‘selling out’ a product or ‘closing out’ particular merchandise, as long as that advertiser will no longer carry that product or merchandise. The unqualified term ‘liquidation sale’ means that the advertiser's entire business is in the process of actually being liquidated prior to actual closing. If such sales exceed ninety (90) days, advertisers must be prepared to substantiate that the offering is indeed a valid emergency or distress sale”. 

Furthermore, according to the Missouri Attorney General’s Office, any type of sale referencing “going out of business” or “liquidation” should not be advertised or conducted unless it registered with that office.  

BBB inquired with Blitz Crazy Deals if they registered their store closing sale with the Missouri Attorney General’s Office. What are their starting and ending date(s) of the sale? Have they imported new merchandise into the store for the event from other retailers, distributors, liquidators, etc., or is their firm selling down/liquidating only its current stock of merchandise prior to closing?  The company did not respond to BBB.
