      Business response

      02/06/2023

I apologize for the delayed response but I was out sick with covid most of January and just received the mailing Friday 2/3/23.

There is so much to say but hard to interpret the text above.  Complaints and texts sent are rambling.

First off I am the owner and the representative that managed the project was **** *******.

In an effort to appease the customer I personally went and met with her in April 2022.

We had already reviewed most of this with the homeowner and it seems no matter what we say, there is an argument and complaint. Mind made up nothing we can do.

The entire job had a permit and inspector signed off on it.

Homeowner slandered us to each person who worked there and tried to work both ends against the middle.

The concrete foundation was fine. She wanted to enclose the carport but insisted on saving the existing carport floor and didn't want to replace it.  In order to dig the foundation we had to cut back the existing concrete floor of carport in order to dig footing. After digging footing, we had to repour the portion of the floor removed- in order to have a level plane it was poured in alignment with remaining portions, (that weren't removed)..Then after garage door was installed it can only go down to the level of the concrete floor that was the existing carport floor (with the fill sections around perimeter to match the existing slab elevation- we had to fill in portions removed in order to dig foundation but still in same floor plane as existing otherwise there would be a big hump where changed from old to new).  So when overhead garage door was installed, when closed the door went to existing floor as tight as possible but some light came in at one side- installers said it couldn't go down any lower on that side because concrete slope- the only way that would change is if she paid for a new concrete floor in garage- she did NOT and we were not contracted to replace the floor- at her request it remains.  Not much could be done at that point but the install looked good and door was secure, functioned properly and good job.   The garage door installer (a subcontractor for the garage door vendor) indicated that she slandered our company to them.

Ms ***** also continually slandered our company to other contractors and individuals including inspector insisting that we installed an inferior man door to garage, she still insists it was a "second hand" garage door  (not overhead door but man door) insisting it was a leftover door.  It was a brand new door from ***** door shop.  Nothing about it was 2nd hand.  Some people think of ***** as a shop that sells overstock or leftover products because 20-30 years ago that was a big part of their business, but not anymore; the products they sell, in particular their doors are top quality and we as builders prefer them to box stores like **** ***** or *****- they are not cheaper than box stores but better made and less issues in most cases.

As far as damaging a storm door, I know nothing about it.

I do know we sent our man to install the new fire door between house and garage (had to be fire door when we enclosed carport).  She wanted to keep the 1/2 glass door she had and install that to back yard from the garage.  The fire door (the one from *****) that she complained about and repeatedly insisted we cheated her and said to everyone and complained to us that she KNEW it was not a legitimate fire door.  QUESTION TO ANYONE WITH SENSIBILITY:  Why would we waste the time, labor and effort to install a door we knew couldnt pass final inspection for fire code?? We did install it because we were 100% sure it was a proper fire door because we ordered it for that purpose. The proof is it passed with flying colors.  Its ludicrous the concept but it was only one of hundreds of false accusations and assumptions and reputation damaging slanders that came out of this.

To further the damage/problems/headaches- when our workers showed up, she insisted that they not remove the jamb when putting the fire door in place of the 1/2 glass door to the kitchen. I was mortified to find out our workers acquiesced to her demands and attempted to disassemble the prehung firedoor from the jamb it came in and install it in the jamb that was made to fit the 1/2 glass door to kitchen and visa versa put the 1/2 glass in the fire door jamb.  Well even though they were the same size doors the hinges don't always line up so the workers had to spend 3 -4 x the labor adjusting etc to make it fit.  The customer was interfering with our installation crew.  They did what she wanted then she wanted us to fix it. She interfered and disrupted every aspect from start to finish.  Very difficult to work for.

We could not get anywhere with this lady.  This complaint wasn't registered until after I sent a demand letter for our final payment due of $6,740.00 in the letter we indicated we would be filing a mechanics lien.  As to many of her other ramblings I cannot understand the text.

If she wants to pay her bill she can mail it to:  Creative Renovations & Building, Inc. **** ******* *** ******** ** *****
