I needed a radiator flush and thermostat changed on my truck so I dropped it off at A-1 Custom Car Care. Then received a phone call stating that my engine was cracked and needed to be replaced for $10,000 on a 24 year old vehicle. They made me pay for an "inspection" and never flushed the radiator or replaced the thermostat. After paying I wanted my keys, then they told me, "no, we can't let you drive out of here with a cracked engine block, you need to have it replaced, I can't let you leave this parking lot, your vehicle is a bad shape, and you don't want that radiator fluid burning into your catalytic converter, do you have any idea what radiator fluid does to catalytic converters, we can't let you leave." I finally got my keys because I can see this guy was full of lies. They never showed me where the crack was. The engine is not leaking any fluids, nor have I had to add any radiator fluid or oil. To make sure, I got a second opinion from another mechanic. Nothing wrong with the engine. They flushed my radiator and changed thermostat. No cracks or leaks found, the second mechanic says there is nothing wrong. I hope no one falls for one of their tricks. Zero stars.Review from Ronnie Y

I took my car to check out the alternator. I had it checked somewhere else but I wanted a second opinion. They checked the alternator. They road tested the car which they didn't have my permission to do. They also wrote up an entire list of things that were wrong with the car including the brakes, which had just been replaced.Review from lisa C

My family trusted A1 Custom car care on W Sunset for years. Unfortunately our trust was misplaced this year. I brought my Kia *** for repairs and the list of parts the woman at the front desk said I should replace besides the actual problem ran me well over $4000. I do not know anything about cars and I trusted them. The next day after I got my car back, the front right wheel stopped working point blank in the middle of rush hour on Battlefield. I got help from other motorists to drag my car to the side of the road since the front wheels were frozen and I had to call a tow service to bring my car back to the garage, They said the transmission fluid was old and had been blocked going to the wheel, or something like that. My horn no longer works and the oil leak I thought they had taken care of is still there. My husband had brought his ******* at about the same time and they said he needed to replace the timing belts. After what happened with my car, he took his car to the ******* dealership. The timing belts were perfectly fine. I do not understand why they have to be dishonest since they seem to have a lot of business. I will not go back there. Beware.Review from Danny W

I had a major front break failure nearly catching my truck on fire. I called several places no one could even look at it for a week. A-1 said they could diagnose the damage and provide a quote the same day. The diagnosis was thorough with photos and identified issues prioritized. I decided to let them do the work which was completed the next day.... It was done right and for a reasonable price. I will recommend A-1 to anyone needing repairs.
