I paid to have my valve cover gaskets replaced. Less than ****** miles and 1 year later D6 automotive in ******* is replacing them and says they have never been replaced.

*********************** has been a customer of ours since 1-20-2021 and we've done all types of repairs on his vehicle and never have had an issue. I've not received any calls from customer on this issue and wasn't aware of it until today on 2-9-24 due to the BBB contacting me for the customer invoice #***** dated on *******. customer requested that we install valve cover gaskets and install his customer supplied radiator. we informed customer that we don't warranty any customer supplied parts. we charged customer $200.00 for installing his radiator that he supplied. We charged customer ****** for labor for installing our supplied valve cover gaskets (with life time warranty) that cost $62.39.total for =******. his total on invoice was $655.11. customer has a 1 yr warranty on labor and life time on parts. if the valve cover gaskets was leaking  under warranty we would stand behind our warranty 100%. customer never gave us that option. we got the parts from AutoZone and our tec ******************************* performed the job. i have all receipts in my hands. we've got 6 different invoices for all different types of repairs from brakes to axles and all have life time warranty on parts.

      Complaint: 21248226

I am rejecting this response because:
I have filed a previous complaint from the same instance where Vanzandts automotive refused to issue anything linking the job to an oil change. The valve cover gaskets have now been replaced by a different mechanic who stated they had not been previously replaced. They were old and deteriorated, this is not something that would of been the case had the gaskets been replaced when the job was supposedly done.

      Sincerely,

Did not fix the problem several times in a row. Kept coming up with different excuses as to why they didn't fix the problem. On 2 occasions they didn't even finish putting truck back together, barely even running and kept milking my elderly father until it totaled just over 4 thousand dollars.

I took my car in for a new radiator and valve cover gaskets. I also brought in oil for them to change as it was due. I was told it would be changed while other services were being done. When I got my car back there was a new oil change sticker showing that the oil needed to be changed in 3000 miles from where the odometer was currently. The following morning while driving to work the car wasn't running right, i returned it and explained the problem and he said it was low on oil then stated he believed there was more issues with the engine that had nothing to do with the work performed previously. Now I'm needing records of this oil change taking place and Jimmy the owner says they didn't do one. When I asked why they changed the sticker for the milage needed he said that if I wanted a receipt for an oil change I needed to come pay him for one. At this point I'm not sure they used the oil I brought in or not I did not get the jug back.

***** ****** made an appointment for car repairs on 3-7-23 and supplied his own parts, We told ***** that we do install customer parts, but there's no warranty on labor. I gave him an estimate for installing his radiator and his valve cover gaskets only. on invoice #***** customer paid $655.11 total. / labor is $360.00 for installing valve cover gaskets./ 200.00 for Installing his radiator. total labor $560.00.  customer supplied wrong valve cover gaskets and he approved the amount for the correct ones, for $62.39. He also needed 1 gallon of anti freeze for $20.00. plus tax equaled $655.11 and that's what customer paid. Customer called me on 4-6-23 wanting a receipt for changing his oil and filter. I looked at his invoice which he has a copy of, and I could not find a charge or a request for his oil to change on are invoice, so I could not give him a copy of something we didn't do or did not charge for. I don't know how he got an oil change sticker when we never performed one. ***

I am rejecting this response because:

What happened to the oil i supplied? The sticker on my windshield stating the oil change wasn't due for 3 thousand miles after I picked up the car was false in which case the oil change needed to be done at current millage by factory recommendations.

Allan, the man I spoke with when I scheduled this work assured me it would be taken care of when I explained everything I was supplying for the work. As well as the fact that parts provided by customers aren't covered under warrantee.

Took my SUV to vanzandts auto to have brake pads replaced. Got car back and it was making squealing and grinding noises. Called shop and they said it was the brakes adjusting. Noise continued so I called the following week and was told I’d have to wait till the next week to bring it in the be looked at. Brought it in April 3rd and they kept it all day and did not tell me anything. Called morning of the 4th and they said they would call me with a quote on repair for struts. I asked why because the struts were fine when I took it in originally. Vanzandts has had several reports of damaging vehicles while repairing them so they could charge for more repairs.

I took my car to them on June 14th. It was running hot. They told me I needed a timing belt, water pump and seals. I had them to check the battery also. I paid them $1010. When I picked it up, my air conditioner wasn't working and it was making noises. They had it parked like it was finished. The car was running rough. He told me I was going to need an air compressor. The car died on me when I made it to *******. They pulled my car back to the shop. They checked it our and said it wasn't my timing belt. Now he is saying I need something else done. I paid them all my money. It wasn't in this shape when I originally took it to them. The owner said ******** may have sold him bad parts. Now they are telling me I have a blown motor. This isn't right. They were suppose to fix it.

Mrs. ****** had her car here for overheating, she said she was adding coolant when it would overheat. we pressure checked the cooling system and we found water leaking out of the front cover , I then gave her an estimate for a water pump kit, which is the water pump, timing belt and tensioner. she approved. when apart the water pump was leaking out the weep hole, once water pump job was completed, before installing timing belt cover, we pressure checked to make sure of no other leaks, we then found the water pump housing gasket leaking too. I called the customer and Mrs. ****** approved this repair and added on a battery replacement as well. When job was completed my tec test drove the car and then I drove it before calling Mrs. ****** and it drove good. I went to Mrs. ****** house and gave her a ride. Once she got in her car, she noticed that the a/c wasn't blowing cold, we then found a bad connection at the a/c compressor, and it worked fine. Mrs.****** then called back later that day and said her car stop running and someone had told her that the timing chain had broken.  We went and got her car that night and we removed part of the timing cover the next day so we could see if the timing belt had broken. we found it's not broke, and the belt is tight. (We worked her car in between appointments) we removed part of the grill to gain access to the belt. I notified customer that her blet was not broke and she immediately started cussing me. I WOULD LIKE FOR HER HUSBAND TO COME SEE FOR HIM SELF. We did find that the passenger side cam shaft drive gear is broken, we need approval time to diagnose this issue. possible damage from overheating?  lack of oil to that cam or cam failed? when installing a timing belt and water pump on this engine there is no access to the inside of motor. something inside of motor has failed. I want to help them. but I won't be cussed at due to something I had nothing to do with. sincerely *** *********

I took my car to this shop in late March to have a full inspection and all of my brakes and brake pads replaced. This company completed the work and also charged me for new wiper blades I was never made aware of that they replaced. My brakes still do not work right, and the company is just being rude to me, they are not professionally handling the ongoing issue I am having with my brakes.

on 6-21-22 @ 12;20pm a lady called in saying that her transmission was not shifting right since we worked on it, I told her to call Ace transmission to have it diagnose for free. I then asked the lady for her information so I could look it up in my system, her name was not in my system, although she did come up with a NAME OF **** *******, I then found the invoice #***** *******. SHE WAS VERY RUDE AND ACCUSING ME OF DAMANAING HER CAR BEFORE I EVEN HAD TIME TO READ THE HISTORY OF REPAIRS, SAID SHE IS HIRING A LAWYER I SAID OK, AND SHE HUNG UP. ONCE I READ ****'s history of repairs there was no information about a transmission problem. she never said anything about brakes on the phone and she also stated she spent over $700.00 at my shop, which was also incorrect. I have a copy of ****'s invoice. I got her phone number off my caller I.D.  so I could call her back, but it was busy. **** came in for front brakes and rotors, customer supplied front rotors and pads//once boxes where open we then found that customer supplied wrong parts. we also replaced the rear metal brake lines to rear wheel cylinder's due to being rusted and leaking bad. customer also stated on the invoice that says "customer request bleed brakes only and if it don't fix the problem then don't fix it! **** also had a oil change and a state inspection performed. I'm guessing that he needed wiper blades to pass inspection but I don't see where we charged him for the wiper blades. we do sell them installed for 10.00 a pc. All of these repair where approved by ****.  IF **** CALLS WANTING ME TO CHECK HIS BRAKES OR ANY OTHER PROBLEMS THAT HE HAS , I'D BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO DO.

I am rejecting this response because:
I have two witnesses that were with me in person when the gentleman HUNG UP ON ME. After staying "I'm not gonna deal with you anymore" If he would have stopped talking over me like I asked him nicely to do then he would have heard that I was advising that I was also having issues with my breaks. He claims in his voicemail that I still have on my phone that all they did was work on my breaks so why is he now stating that he had done more work. **** ******* is my ex fiance and as I advised the gentleman who refused to stop talking over me he had to bring the vehicle to him and payment as I was at work. I can provide receipts of the money I transfered to **** on my cash app card showing where I'm the one who provided the funds. This gentleman repeatedly set the phone down as I was trying to advise him that the vehicle was underneath my name or my fiance's. To which he misspelled my name 5 times even after I kept spelling it for him. He rudley set the phone down as I was spelling ****'s name. So he had to ask me 3 separate times how to spell his name. If he had just been more professional and actually cared about myself as a customer then this would not have to happen. I am still demanding a full refund so as I can take my vehicle to a more professional place and actually have my vehicle worked on by professionals.

SHE ALSO NEVER ONCE SAID ANYTHING ABOUT THE REPAIRS THAT WE HAD DONE. JUST THAT WE RUINED HER TRANSMISSION, AND I BET SHE DONT EVEN KNOW WHAT REPAIRS WERE DONE AND APPROVED FOR. PLUS, SHE SAID SHE SPENT OVER $700.00 AND THATS NO WHERE CLOSE TO RIGHT, MAYBE SHE GAVE HER X $700.00?  I'VE NEVER TAKED TO HER BEFORE ON ANY REPAIRS. THE VECHILE IS COVERED UNDER THE CUSTOMER'S NAME (ONLY) THATS ON THE INVOICE AND ITS NOT TRANSFERABLE TO A DIFFENT NAME/PERSON. AS I SAID IN MY 1ST RESPONSE IF **** BRINGS IN HIS VECHILE I'D BE MORE THAT HAPPY TO LOOK AT. THIS LADY CALLS ME'S BEING RUDE RIGHT OFF THE BATT FOR NO REASON, THEN SAYS THAT I DONT HAVE ANY CUSTOMER SERVICE (I'M An ASE CERTIFIED SERVICE CONSULTANT) AND I SUCK/ AND SHE HUNG UP..SHE WAS VERY IMPATIENCE AND RUDE.

First off the car is in my name I have the title and can prove that. Second off I feel very discriminated against because I'm a woman and again I can provide receipts of the funds I gave to **** ******* who is currently in county jail. I was not rude and I did explain there was an issue with my breaks. After being told and I quote "look lady all we did was your breaks." Again I have two witnesses who were with me in person who heard this guy talk over me repeatedly and hang up on me after and again I quote he stated "I'm not gonna deal with you anymore." This is very unprofessional behavior for someone who has worked in customer service as long as he claims he has. I asked politely and nicely for him to stop talking over me as well as pointed out if he had just stopped setting the phone down then he would know how to spell the names correctly. Also why would you not bleed the brake line you didn't replace? Why was it even an option when as a mechanic it is required for all brake work? I have the invoice at home for all the things he has claimed in his voicemail that he didn't do and I will be attaching a copy of that as soon as I get home. Why couldn't he just be professional and listen to the concerns of a paying customer regardless of whose name is on the invoice. I spoke with him on speaker phone with my ex and he refused to listen to me and put the invoice in my name because I am a woman. That is discriminatory and I may be speaking to the attorney general about such behavior because this is unacceptable. I have attached the screenshots of the voicemail as well as the length and time he called me back when he claims it was busy. It will not let me attach the voicemail itself but I would be happy to bring it to the BBB office if they would like to hear it. I don't appreciate being treated this way because someone has been caught lying and being rude. If you own a business you should be courteous to everyone. I am still demanding the refund of my money so I can pay the mechanic that will be working on it on the 7th of July and I will happily provide documentation of the diagnostic report they give advising what all needs done on the brakes and brake lines.

I am rejecting this response because:

I have spent $500 to get my brake, wheel hub assembly and bearings. They only charged me for one of each. I got a flat and I went to change the tire and wheel hub assembly came off which means they didn't fix it. I took it back to them to get it diagnosed and fixed. They have had my vehicle for three weeks. They charged me $200 to get it up and running and mount my alternator. I manually took the alternator out so no one could take it out. They can't even get my car running. They are asking for more money to fix it. They told me the clutch was going bad which I knew, but it was still perfectly fine to drive. The paper they gave me said I would have to pay $900 to get it running. The Clutch set, clutch switch and clutch cylinder are parts that are now bad on the car, but weren't prior to taking to them. They just charged me another $75 for a diagnosis.

I took my car into this shop for repair. They had it 3.5 weeks. They replaced the transmission. When I went to pick it up the young man there said there was a small leak. I picked it up on Friday. Saturday morning there was a big puddle under the car, black in color. I called the shop they told me to bring it back in, and it would be another $120 for the axle seal. They charged $3600 for the transmission. They told me that if I drive it, I could damage the transmission I put in. They should have done this axle seal job as part of the transmission job-- I have checked with other shops and this is what they told me.

BBB Business Profiles generally cover a three-year reporting period. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this business, please let the business know that you contacted BBB for a BBB Business Profile.
