CTA calls Choice rewards members who have opted in for promotions with them to offer a discounted getaway they may be eligible for.    The guest has been placed on the *** and will no longer receive promotion calls.

Below is the call log history where *** (answering machine detection) was the primary call disposition.  RS_Number means the call did not go through because the call failed.

The guest called the main administrative CTA number @ 0679 and left VM there @ 15:52 on 5/15.  CTA's website is geared to prospective clients and overall information, not for campaign specific information.  VMs are listened to first thing in the AM the next day so this would have been monitored on 5/16 (the day of the BBB complaint).

The guest called back and went through the ivr, got to the phone queue where no one answered the house phones.

Then the guest called the number CTA had called them from and left vm.  VMs are emailed to one person who listens to them the next day which would have been the day of the BBB complaint.

The BBB complaint came in @ 4:45 am on 5/16, the next day after the guest called multiple times and left vm.

The guest phone number, ********** is on the *** as of 5/16 request. The guest would have been placed on the *** once the VMs were listened to that day.

      Customer response

      06/05/2024

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Please note that ************** who hired this third party, never had the right to share my information as I purposefully and surely opted out of the program when I made the reservation as I do with all such sales lizard scheming, and when the calls began I called to complain and they first said they would contact CTA to tell them to stop, did not, and when I called to complain again they--an agent and her supervisor--lied to me and claimed Choice had nothing to do with CTA.

While, CTA handled this complaint, it should never have taken my time and BBB time if:

      1. Choice had not backdoored me into their program
      2. Choice took ownership of my initial complaint
      3. Choice did not lie to me
      4. CTA had a far more friendly and sensible system for opt out. I had no idea the voicemail was acted upon and your site and everything else ***** for those who are getting spammed. You make it such a last century pain in the a** that I had to use the kind offices of Better Business Bureau and waste all our time. Shameful.

This experience means I will never ever again use Choice for anything and of course CTA exchanges are now blocked. Telemarketing is a last century version of spam that no self-respecting operation would stoop to and it was disgusting to be bothered in my workday within a day or two of my travel, especially as I took such care not to get opted in. How outrageous to call people unsolicited with dubious vacation promotions within single digit days of their booking. Choice is rotten and your partnership with them is a stain on you.

      Sincerely,

      *******************
