            I rented 2 units at ABC on separate occasions, with separate contracts. I have kept one completely up to date. The other unit is in default, I don't deny that. I have notifications from them stating back in July they were were auctioning off the unit for past due fees. They have NOT. In fact they are still accumulating fees against me. I have asked them several times to evict me from that unit and they refuse, still gathering fees against me. I have tried to explain the situation and work with them. They refuse. And they have now locked my unit that is up to date on payments. And refused me access to my unit that is current. I've tried explaining that while they keep adding fees I cannot get the unit that is behind paid and the owner stated she didn't care and that even though the other unit is paid, that I could not have access to that unit until the other unit is paid up to date. It's currently over $700 I am on disability and cannot pay that amount. She refuses to stop adding fees and refuses to work with me. She claims I have to bring in $700 at once for her to let me have access to my belongings

            I rented a storage unit from ABC Mini Storage in Springfield and always paid in full, on time. As per their contract, I gave a 30 day, paid in full, notice for vacating the unit, giving them a "vacate date". I paid ahead of time and assumed the unit would be mine for the entire "last month" that I had paid for. Much to my surprise, a few days into the final contract vacating date, my access to the property was denied and they took early possession of the unit I paid rent for, and rented it out to another tenant. All without advising me beforehand. I found out when my access code did not work when I returned to sweep and clean. I paid rent for the unit for the entire month, and it should have been mine for the entire month. Storage unit also smelled heavily of cigarette smoke.

            I am sorry for the confusion on your account. As I explained to you, when we find a unit that the tenant has emptied out and has no lock on the door we then move the tenant out of our system. If you had intended to keep the unit for the month, keeping a lock on your door or communicated with us about staying longer would have prevented this problem. Since there was no contents and no lock we assumed you had vacated for good. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, we will make sure tenants understand in the future when their unit is vacated and no lock on the door that we will move them out of the system. Occasionally we do have tenants who smoke and store their furniture, which has adsorbed the smoke smell. We try hard to take care of that issue when it arises, however sometimes it's an occupied unit that we can't get to until it's vacated. We do have Pest Control monthly applications to help prevent these issues. Should problems occur in the future please let us know so we can correct the problem in a timely manner.
