I own a small business that has vended alongside Frog Family Reptile and Amphibians for several years out of St Louis when they come to town for the reptile show. There was an April 1st and 2nd two day show in St Louis that we vended together where they wanted 16 of my Epipedobates anthonyi tadpoles for $25 a piece to resell in their store. At the end of the show the owner, ******** came to my table to say that they hadn't made much at this show and wouldn't be able to pay for the full amount but still wanted the tadpoles. He went on to tell me that he only had $120 for that day but could send me that additional $280 very quickly. We discussed options for payment. He wanted me to download zelle. I said I wasn't going to download another payment service for him and it would have to be PayPal, Venmo, or Cashapp because wlthe next show we would vend together would be several months away and he agreed. Over the next several weeks I tried continually to message ******** on Facebook messenger (my only form of communication with him that had always been successful before) to no avail for 5 weeks. I finally had to Google their store number to get ahold them that way. His partner answered by saying "Hey, I know we want more tadpoles from you guys." Which I answered with, "OK, but you guys still owe us $280" to which she replied with "do we? I'll leave a note on his desk for him to call you." 48 hours later I receive a nasty text message from saying that he'll "see us soon at a show with a new line of terrariums" (we have a terrarium based business) I then made a Facebook status to alert the community to his behavior. At this point FOUR other local vendors have come forward to say HE STILL OWES THEM HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS. After all of this Frog Family finally pays me on Paypal and all I wanted to do was forget about their existence.CUT TO JUNE 10. They disputed the money they sent, won the case, and have my money.
