I had this company put an electric outlet in my fireplace so I could use an electric fireplace insert three years ago. The unit worked on a remote control so I assumed they put it in an accessible area. Two weeks ago the insert stopped working so I go to unplug it and replace and could not find an outlet??? I call the company explain the situation to them. They send out ***** who installed it. It took ***** 30 mins to find the outlet. He had to dismantle the stone bottom panel as well as the heavy metal plate to find it. I said I can’t get to that it is too heavy for a woman. He preceded to tell me it would cost $450 to move it. I said it should have never been installed that way to begin with. Called the owner **** ********* and he said not “our” fault you didn’t notice that until now. Then preceded to tell my fiancé “you know how women are”. After we told ***** we weren’t going to pay he left my house and the fireplace all tore out and never returned.Business response

Our company received a service call from the consumer to come and look at a fireplace. Insert electrical outlet. This job was previously completed on January 7, 2020 and at this time everything worked properly when we left. We were asked to come back three years later, ***** was assigned to the job because he had done the work previously and knew what he had done. It did not take “30 minutes to figure out how the fireplace insert was wired “ ***** is one of the best electricians and has been doing electrical work for more than 40 years. He handles most of their service calls daily with no complaints.
As with *****’s expertise, the hole in the seal plate of the fireplace insert was not safe to put an outlet, so he ran wire through the hole in the concrete block that was supplied by a fireplace dealer, and he then installed a receptacle in a safe location and plugged in the fireplace unit. There was a metal plate over the top of this location. As far as the customer saying that ***** told her “it would cost $450 “this is not the case because ***** does not give estimates to customers. We have estimators for that. After the customer told ***** they were not going to pay for the word ***** put everything back in the place and left the job site. The fireplace was not left torn apart.
