The issue occurred with the the Anytime Fitness in ***********, MO. In April of this year, I met with an office person at the *********** location, informed him I would be retiring from the **** and leaving the area permanently in the end of August. I also told him that I would be away for 3 months for an internship but would want to use my membership, if possible, for the month of August as I would be back before leaving for good. I was presented an option to put my account on hold, for a fee, then it would resume after 2 months for me to use. Last week I went into the *********** location to cancel my membership as the end of August is approaching and I am leaving the area permanently. This is just as I described on my first visit to put my account on hold. I have met all contract obligations that I have with Anytime Fitness and pay month to month. When I notified Anytime Fitness that I was ready to terminate my membership, I was told that I would be charged an additional month because I did not give them 30 day notice. I was told this was the rules of the new ownership. First off, I signed up around August or September of 2020, which I believe was the old ownership rules and did not require 30 day notice. Second, and more importantly, I was explicitly clear in April that I would be cancelling my membership in the end of August. THEN would have been the time to notify me that I had to sign paperwork a month out or that should have served as a notice of cancellation.Business response

Good afternoon,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I have included a copy of our member’s signed original agreement as well as written cancellation documentation.
The member chose a 6 month biweekly plan, with the auto renew option terms to open-ended (month to month).The membership automatically renews at members original rate in a month to month agreement, following the 6 months. Renewal terms may be cancelled at any time provided a 30 day written notice delivered to the club address or in person. Under new ownership original agreements of our members already in place are honored and the procedure for cancellation remains the same.
30 day Cancellation notice was signed and received in club August 19, 2022, which would make the Pending Cancel Date effective 9/19/22. The member is responsible for any invoices that fall within that 30 days.
In this case, 8/24/22 $25.43 and 9/7/22 $25.43, as last draft dates.Let me know if there is anything further we can provide or answer anymore questions.
