I moved into the Heights apartments about a year and a half ago due to some unfortunate circumstances that would have otherwise left me homeless. When I moved in, the building was not even finished. We did not have a lobby, and I could not receive my mail. I worked with it. Then my bathtub started peeling up, and it not fixed. When they "fix it", they just paint over it. Then my cheap flooring started coming up, and the maintenance manager told me he'd just fix it when I moved out because he "had enough to do the whole place over again" and it "wouldn't be a big deal." Fine, I let that slide. Then my light went out. I mentioned it to the maintenance manager during an inspection and it was not fixed. Fine, I'll go get a light bulb. Did that, and come to find out, they don't have light bulbs, they're LED strips under a cover. It took around 8 months to get that resolved. There have been multiple instances of fights, openly drunk people screaming at each other in the staircase by me, couples fighting outside, multiple meth addicts, and the police are almost always up here because of complaints. Most of this I have quietly excused because I just needed somewhere affordable to live. The deal breaker however, was the moisture. My windows are not double paned and are not sealed correctly, so when it gets even a little chilly out, my windows are soaked. And I mean SOAKED. It has ruined my clothes, my art supplies, and other property that was near them. This moisture is causing black mold to grow in multiple apartments, all across the ceiling and walls and door. The ceiling outside in the hall is caving because of the moisture and it's only a matter of time before it falls. Then, the moisture on my windows and door completely froze into a sheet of ice trapping me in my apartment for 1.5 hour until I could melt it enough to get out. That is unacceptable. Finally, they suggested everyone buy space heaters in this decades old building instead of giving us livable units.
