We called on Castlewood Plumbing to check/repair our plumbing venting system in the attic of a condo. Water had been dripping from the two couplers/connectors on to the drywall of the living room ceiling/wall. You could physically see the water damage on the drywall in the attic, as well as in the ceiling/wall of the living room. They had a young employee come out and state it was the skylights. I informed their employee about the ************************* causing the venting system to leak. He informed me that vents dont have water in them. The skylight tubes did not completely cover the inside ****** from the roof mount, so you can actually see light coming from the skylight lens, but there was no open area around these skylights. And the skylights were eight (8) feet from the water stains. Had these actually been gaps in the skylight mounts on the roof, water would have poured in. We called another plumber. He stated the vent was bowed and was not draining properly. They fixed it and now the source of the water issue, running our washer/dryer or dishwasher does not produce any leaking. The license master plumber who fixed our issue stated that this is not an uncommon problem with venting systems. I called Castlewood to get our $149 refunded as their assessment was completely inaccurate and I actually got a similar response of venting systems dont have water I informed this employee like the last that its known as condensation. Castlewood refused to refund, and I went to their ******** review page I can now see why we had this issue. They also quoted a $1200 price for replacing two faucets. You do not want to get involved with this company.Castlewood Plumbing Company Response

Thank you for your review, as we appreciate all feed back. We have reviewed the appointment and found that the actual home owner that made the appointment and was there for the appointment agreed to the $149 evaluation fee. He also gave the technician the approval to move forward with the evaluation and signed off on it. We would be happy to work something out with the actual home owner **** if he were to call in and speak with us.Review from Vera E

Thank you for the review, as we do appreciate all feed back. After reviewing the job and the job notes I found that you were given options to complete the requested work. After you were given those options, you were also given the option to move forward with the work or not to move forward with the suggested options, you chose to move forward and signed the estimate to complete the work. not only did we install the kitchen faucet that you purchased but we also installed three stops under the sink, reconnected the dishwasher and installed 2 new faucet flex supplies. We are not a handyman service, we have licensed professional plumbers. We stand behind our work and the products that we install with a warranty. I hope that this information clears things up. Please accept our deepest apologies for that appointment not going as you had hoped.Review from Ben B

Im disappointed to say that Im done with Thome/Castlewood Plumbing after having used them for many years. We had a toilet tank that needed a new kit installed, plus two bathroom faucets to install, which we had bought and provided. The cost for this work was $2290. No kidding. The tech did go over the costs prior to the work. And of course, it was my option for him to do the job or not. Im not physically able to do the work myself any longer so I told him to go ahead. The technician told us that he was much faster than his coworkers who would have taken 8 hours to do the work that he did in 3 hours. But it shouldnt have taken him that long. He also complimented himself for holding down the costs of the work, after charging us $2290 for a toilet tank and two faucets. I hope it will be years before we need another plumber, but when we do, we will find someone else. This experience was a miserable one.Review from John K

DO NOT USE CASTLEWOOD PLUMBING. I setup a drain clean out appointment online. I should have gotten a price first. Most clean out services cost 200 to 300 dollars. Castlewood showed up and said it would be $450. I did not want to have to deal with it any more so I told them to go ahead. Then they told me I needed a new sink basket and they could do that for $500. Thats when I new they were trying to rip me off and I should have thrown them out. A good, brand name sink basket costs less than $75 and takes between 5 and 10 minutes to install. That means the rate they wanted to charge me was over $2000 per hour. What really bothers me is all the people that dont know that that price is a rip off and may have said yes. This is not ethical behavior. Beware.Castlewood Plumbing Company Response

I am sorry that you feel this way. We did offer options to repair the sink basket and you chose not not move forward with the work. We offer these options so that you do have the opportunity to decline and do not feel overwhelmed with the cost of plumbing repairs. We do not offer price over the phone because there are just too many variables that go into a drain cleaning or plumbing issue.Review from Thomas B

I am sorry that you feel this way. We do not install box store fixtures, we install professional grade quality parts and for that the is going to be different. In that price we provide a 1 year warranty our work and parts.Review from Tom C.

I requested Castlewood plumbing technician to replace kitchen faucet on 9/2/22. Technician arrives asked me a couple question like occupation. I told him I was retired. He tells me without testing the shut off valves that they are defective. I disagreed as I turned them off but left the hot water open. No leaks and he would have know if physically tested. He proceeds with a verbal bid, $1,120 to replace valves and faucet. I rejected asking for faucet replacement. His bid was $512. I asked for details to support bid as on goggle the estimated time to replace faucet was 30 minutes. He refused so I asked him to leave. Later that day I called another plumber who replaced the kitchen faucet in 35 minutes and charged me $100. He said the shut off valves were good no leaks. Days later I receive an invoice from Castlewood Plumbing for $96 advising me to pay or they will place mechanical lean on my house. Beware of these guys.Review from Dan D

Castlewood Plumbing, previously known as Thome Plumbing in west St. Louis County charged $450 for a simple job that took less than 30 minutes. A year previously they had charged $167 for a similar job that took the same amount of time. This is for informational purposes.
