Re: Gift Certificate #***************** My husband and I had reservations for camping at Gulf Beach RV Resort on 9/02/2022 through 9/05/2022. My brother and his family had reservations there at the same time. We were both first time campers at this campground. While on route to the camping destination on 9/02/2022, my brother and his family were involved in a head-on collision in Luling, Louisiana and suffered a total loss of their truck and camper. My brother called me immediately after the incident and asked if I could call the resort to let them know what happened and to see if they could get a refund due to the extraordinary circumstances. My husband and I were very shook up and emotional over the incident, but my brother urged us to continue on the trip since there was nothing that we could do to help them. I called the campground on our way and explained what happened and was told at that time that the campground did not provide any refunds and the only thing they could offer was a credit. I was upset about that, because my brother suffered a total loss so the credit would not benefit him at all. When my husband and I arrived at the campground office, we were still very shaken up and emotional over the circumstances. I verbally voiced my disappointment and disagreement to the female representative at the desk about their decision concerning my brother’s reservation. She was very nice but explained that was the policy. She referred me to the male manager also there behind the desk. He was not cordial at all and showed no concern over our family members who had just been involved in a tragic accident. His attitude was ‘snooty’ and not empathetic at all. Finally, I asked if we could pay my brother back, and we be issued the credit. The male manager responded sarcastically saying, “Now you want me to do you favor?!! I was really upset by that point beyond belief and walked out of the office. The next day on 9/03/2023 we went back into the office and spoke to the same female representative that had greeted us the day before to see to see what our options were. She said that they could issue a refund to my brother and send him a gift certificate link via email. This email could just forwarded to us and we could use the gift certificate number in making reservations. I asked her if we could have the gift certificate issued in our name, and basically, she advised that this was the only way to do it. My brother did receive the email with the gift certificate for $332.25. I paid him $332.25, and he forwarded me the email on 9/03/2023 for us to use as I was directed by the representative of the campground. Fast forward to 7/18/2023, I went online to book a reservation at Gulf Beach RV Resort for Labor Day weekend 2023 using the gift certificate code; however, when I tried to check out the reservation, the system would not accept the gift certificate. On the morning of 7/19/2023, I called Gulf Beach RV Resort and spoke to a female representative. I explained the problem we were having, and she said she could help me. I told her which RV site we wanted, but she quoted a different price than I was seeing online. While putting me on hold to check on it, a different female representative came on the line and said that someone would call me back in 30 minutes. I told her my concern about waiting to make the reservation, because we had picked out a site that we wanted. She assured me that they would not rent out that site. About an hour later, a manager by the name of **** called me back. He said he did not know how to tell me this, but we were not welcome at that campground, because of the notes from the manager in their system from our visit last year saying I had been “threatening.” I was so blown away by his statement and felt speechless. I had no idea what he was talking about, and I relayed that to him. I told him what happened, and he said when a manager puts notes like this in the system, management does not want to do business with the person. I told him that I was told by the campground that I could use the credit that would be issued to my brother so I paid him for his credit. I told him that it was not right to allow us to pay for the credit and then turn around and not allow us to use it. He said he wanted to do a little investigating and call me back. About an hour after I spoke to this manager ****, I called back the campground and spoke to him again. I told him that my mind was still reeling from our previous phone call. I provided him more details concerning our visit and voiced again that I never threatened anyone. I told him I would never do anything like that. The manager **** said the notes did not necessarily say I was threatening anyone, but that I was threatening to tell others about my experience at the campground and share on social media. I told him that I do not remember that and did not share any information on social media. We were still very shook up at that time from my brother’s accident. I told him about how we went into the office that Saturday the year prior and how the female representative advised us on how to go about using the credit from my brother. He told me that whoever told me that was not a manager and did not have the authorization to do that. I told him that if we could not use the gift certificate then we would like our money back. He said there are no refunds on gift certificates. He said he needed to do some more investigating including calling one of the employees who was off that day, and he told me he would call me back. Needless to say, the manager never called me back. In talking to my husband on the evening of 7/19/2023 about my communication with the campground, he remembered that the manager’s name that was so ugly to us during the prior year visit was named ****. I feel that this manager is being vindictive towards us and acting hugely unprofessional. I have no faith that this manager will call me back or act in a fair manner. We paid for a credit on the basis of being able to use it as instructed by the employee of the campground. At this point, after thinking about the phone contacts with Manager **** on 7/19/2023 and discussing this with my husband, we are fairly certain this manager will not be calling us back nor do not want to stay at the campground. As it stands, we do not trust the management in how they do business. We are done playing games with the management, and we want our money back totaling $332.25. After we get our money returned, we would be more than happy to never do business with this campground again.
