On June 4th 2022 I purchased a mini schnauzer from Lazy Haven Schnauzers, owners **** and ******* ******, for the sum of $500. I was told the dog was being sold at a discount due to his natural tail and that he had an underbite that was not good for breeding. When we picked the dog up, we met them in Greenville, MS, they casually mentioned his front paw had been injured but was healed and cause no issues. When we got him home, we noticed him limping on that paw. He also had eye drainage that continually got worse so we took him to our vet. The vet said he had heartworms, ear mites, an eye infection, and a skin infection on his belly. He also looked at his paw and stated it had indeed been injured, one of the pads was missing, but it has healed nicely. he may continue to limp. We spent around $240 on that Vet visit. The dog also started being aggressive to humans, us, and our other dogs, growling and biting. He bit my husband numerous times. I reached out to ******* to ask about his paws thinking something happened that caused him trauma. She said when he was 2-3 days old, an older puppy got a hold of him they think and tore his paw. She said he got along fine with their dogs and they didn't have any issues, but then later admitted he had been rehomed once before for biting. She denied that he came to us with any of those health problems, but our other dogs had none of those issues, which heartworms and ear mites are contagious. We advised he would not be a good fit for us and we asked to return him.. They agreed to allow us to return him and refund our money. Only to find out they did not have the funds at the time, they "needed to sell a dog" before they could pay us. They did not want to reimburse us for any of the vet bills either. I have offered to let them make payments rather than a lump sum. But as of today, they have not paid us a dime. They have become unresponsive to our texts. We do things via text so we have a record.
