On October 28, 2022, my 16 year old daughter bought a tanning package from Glow Tanning Salon for $65 of her hard-earned money. Glow took the money from my 16 year old daughter knowing that by law a parent had to sign off on a minor (anyone under 18) prior to them tanning. I, being her mother, refused to allow her to proceed with the use of tanning beds since I have recently been diagnosed with skin cancer. I returned to the business explaining such and requesting a refund on November 4, 2022. The employee called the owner who requested that I return on November 8, 2022 to allow time for her to review the situation. I returned on November 8, 2022 to be told by the owner that they do not give refunds. She did, however, offer some tanning bed products (which we do not need since we do not get in tanning beds due to the melanoma), other lotions, and various clothing. We do not want any of these products. My daughter had not used any of the services bought prior to my requesting the refund. The owner mentioned taxes that she paid on tanning packages. I offered for her to subtract these taxes from the original $65 and refund the difference. She refused. I am requesting a full refund. Accepting payment from a minor, in the absence of parental consent, is a violation of Mississippi law.
