    I am disputing a charge for $255 for 17 “Absent Guests” and $64.40 for gratuity. I rented space here for a private event. In the room contract, it stated that our guests could individually order their own food off the house menu. At the bottom of the contract is a catering policy. This catering policy was applied to my bill although I did not CATER this event. On January 24 ****** sent me catering menus. I asked if family members could order individually rather than me catering the event. ****** said yes. Therefore, this policy is not clear & shouldn't apply for my event, and here's why. (1) The statement, “a final menu selection must be made a minimum of 14 days prior to the event”, implies that one is catering the event. How is this applicable if guests are ordering individually? (2) Guaranteeing a certain number of guests again implies a catered event. How is this applicable if I didn't choose food from the catering menus and pay a 25% deposit as stated in the policy? (3) I never guaranteed any number of guests. I asked how many can fit in the room. ****** told me 60; so I asked her to set up the room for 60 since I didn't have a specific head count. Some of our family members had delayed flights & arrived late, but by the end of the night, 50 of our family members attended. In addition, ****** assured me that the room would be set up at 3:00PM when I arrived to do some light decorations. I arrived to do decorations about 4:15pm due to some travel delays and nothing was set up. I was in a time crunch and had to change my plans because I had to wait for the staff to set everything up so that I could put out my decorations. The waitress setting up the tables said that there were no notes or directions left for them on anything about setting up for our event although ****** guaranteed me that it would be set up when I arrived. This threw off my own schedule. Evidence of these conversations, the final bill, and the Room fee contract are all attached. I want a refund.
