On October 4, 2023, I got a billing statement for an appointment made on October 4th, for a hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. I do not live in Jackson, Mississippi, I live in Lafayette during the school year and Prairieville is my home address. I called that day after receiving the bill and was told in two weeks it would be resolved. On November 16, 2023 I got another email about the billing statement to which I called again and asked why it wasn’t resolved and was told that someone with the same name as me was at the hospital and her payment and visit was out under my account. It is now December 13, 2023 and they said that they are still investigating but they acknowledge that the visit wasn’t mine. A couple weeks has turned into a couple weeks and still no action was made but I keep getting billing statements and it will affect my credit. I shouldn’t be bullied into paying a bill that is not for me.

My father was admitted to St. Dominic Hospital in *******, ** on Sept. 24, 2023 with bleeding ulcers. The first week he had 4 blood transfusions and was admitted to ICU because his blood count was low. He was given a liquid diet for the first two weeks and hadnt eaten much prior to being admitted. He had diarrhea and began vomiting which started the day he was admitted to the *** He was weak and laying in the hospital bed for two full weeks before anyone came to do Physical Therapy. My daddy was very disoriented and when he hears things being discussed around him, he makes that a part of his daily life. We were trying to get him into a rehab facility to build his strength in his legs but the rehab facility in ******* denied him on Oct. 9 because they didnt receive all the required paperwork. According to the insurance company the clinical notes were not sent from the hospital so he was denied. The paperwork was finally sent on Oct. 13 after my sister called to see what the problem was and file an appeal. On Oct. 15, my mother and brother were visiting my daddy when the doctor came in to see him. Dr. *************************** proceeded to tell my 80 year old mother that he was denied by the rehab facility and we have a few options. One option is to place him in a nursing home, another option is to take him home and the third option is to leave him there and it would be considered abandonment!! For a doctor to say this to an 80 year old disoriented elderly man, his 80 year old wife and his son? This was very uncalled for and I am very concerned that my father and mother were treated unfairly due to their age. There was several very inappropriate things he said and I am very upset about this. They also didnt remove dialysis tubes in his stomach that they said they would so he had to go have it done as an out patient last week which means more cost. And they put a dialysis port in his chest though he already had one in his arm. Now that needs to be removed at a cost.

St. Dominic Hospital is in receipt of complaint ******** filed to the Better Business Bureau on November 14, 2023.

A diverse team of St. Dominics clinical and administrative leaders has conducted a thorough review of the patients record and experience and concluded that appropriate care was provided throughout the patients stay. As appropriate care was provided throughout, St.Dominics will not accept any financial responsibility for the removal of the port.

Opportunities for better communication with the patient and family were identified, and our team is implementing steps to improve this aspect of patient experience in the future.

I received a bill from St. Dominic's for $1,837.00 for an MRI ordered by my doctor, Dr. ******* ******. I made payments of $100.00 a month with the last one being in September of 2021. I did not receive a bill for October and was notified that I had been turned over to a collection agency (***). The collection agency said they were given my account in Sept. Why was this turned over to collections when I was paying $100.00 a month? Because I cannot make phone calls during the day, my husband called to speak to the billing dept. at St. Dominic's and was told that she didn't handle that account but did see a payment was made for Sept., and he would need to speak to "administration," but she would not give him the name of who he needed to speak to in administration. He questioned this person further, and then the person hung up on him. *** told us initially if we paid off the entire debt by Jan. 3, 2022 that we would receive a 25% discount. When we paid it this week, they then said, "No, they (St. Dominic's) don't give discounts." They also stated that this outstanding balance would be posted on my credit report. My St. Dominic's account number is **********, and my *** acct. number is ********** both in the name of *** * ****. I do not understand why I was turned over to a collection agency when I was making payments and have proof of these payments.

I spoke with a representative at St. Dominic Hospital in February 2021 to set up a payment plan of $100. I made that payment on February 23, 2021. Then in March 2021, I was looking for a bill but never received one. I called St. Dominic April 28, 2021, and my account had been sent to collections. I asked why, she could not explain. So she informed me that she would have my account pulled back. I paid $100 check#**** in Feb. 2021 & I paid $200 with a confirmation # ********** over the phone. My payments to this day haven't been posted to my account nor been pulled from collections although I haven't received a bill since February 2021. I have spoken to several representatives, my payments were found on all calls but still not posted to my account and they would send an email over to expedite my account. This has been going on since April 28, 2021. I want my $100 & $200 posted to my account and my account pulled from collections. My balance corrected to $500.

We appreciate the chance to respond to patients who have or have had less than a positive experience.  We have completed investigating her concerns.  We did find the patient's payments and have updated her balance to the corrected amount.  We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused.
