I Purchased two steel doors from Mississippi Iron Works about 4 years ago and notice my back door has been leaking. I recently replaced the carpet with laminate flooring and noticed it was buckling at the entrance. I thought over the years that the carpet would feel damp after a hard rain but shrugged it off to my imagination. *** reached out to iron works and was told by ******, service manager, that she would check to see when someone was in my area. Needless to say I never heard back from her or anyone else. I made another attempt to call her yesterday and left message and still no response. After reading all the complaints I feel like Im getting the run around too. These doors were way too expensive to be given poor workmanship and now poor customer service. Im very disappointed in the way my situation is being handled.

Ordered 4 sets of custom 2" steel double doors on 11-1-2021 to be manufactured and installed **** weeks later for a total amount of $49,800.00. Doors were installed and immediately began to leak. It was determined that the door panels were not sealed during construction, thresholds were cut short, and other defects. There have been several visits to perform various repair attempts but there are still several issues left to address including glass replacement, hardware replacement, threshold issues, and floor replacement. One area where the floors are ruined has a bad damp smell and I'm afraid that black mold is growing beneath. I have made countless calls to get the remaining items taken care off but progress has come to a stand still. I asked to speak with the owners or managers but was told that they do not accept phone calls and would not give me their phone numbers.

We purchased an iron door April 2022 from ******, the ** of sales. We informed ****** we have high winds with extreme weather during the winter months. ****** with ****************** advised his American made door would not leak and he guaranteed it. To make us feel comfortable ****** said he would add an extra lock for wind purposes. As soon as the rain started with wind, we knew we had MAJOR issues with the door. The panels, windows, corners of the door, and threshold leaked. I had over 10 towels around the door and within 30 minutes they were saturated. ***** with MS ****************** came to our home and our door was took apart. He hit the panels in the center of the door and water seeped out of our door. He took the glass out and water went everywhere! It was extremely cold and he caulked the door panels and windows. The door continued to leak. ***** was called back out to the house-he replaced the weather stripping to the heavy duty weather stripping and took the panels out again and chaulked more. The door still leaked and ***** was called back to our home. He replaced the threshold on the door and added black square pads to the door. The door still leaked. *************************** with **************** was EXCELLENT and very compassionate during this process. ****** understood how much water and the damage we have to our hardwood floorsin our new home. ***** was unable to repair the door and another installer that was the best was sent to the home. I believe, his name was ******. ****** looked at the door but stated the only solution was to add the storm door infront of the irondoor. At this point ****************** had departed the company and ************* was the new contact for ****************. ****** sent two different people to the house, but they evaluated the door then agreed that a storm door would be the only solution. We have made several attempts and contacted ******/****** to resolve this. We have submitted several pictures/videos of our door leaking! The service department team stated they are waiting for Management to determine what to do. This has continued for 3 to 4 months. We need a resolution or a new door that doesn't leak. Our floors will have to be replaced. The **************** that has been sent to our home and when we call have been great, **************** will not repair our door.

My door is rusting again after being repaired 3/2021. We had to go through BBB of Mississippi to get the doors repaired. I called Mississippi Iron Works and talk to ******* on 8/7/23. She said she would give the message and someone would return my call. After no one returned my call, I called back on 8/15/23. ******* took my information again and said she would have someone return my call. Again no one returns my call, so I called their Human Resources at 10:37 on 8/18/23. ****** calls me back at 10:59 on 8/18/23. He told me to send a picture of the door and he would get back to me. I sent the picture to him that day. He never called me back, so I called Human Resources again 10:31 on 8/31/23. ****** called me back at 11:09 on 8/31/23. He said that they would send out someone to patch the door. When I told him that the door was still under warranty and I didn’t want a patch job. I wanted them to come get the door and refinish it. He said he would have to check on the warranty and get back to me. He has not called me back. I attached the document that has my warranty date on it that I received from BBB. I filed my first complaint through BBB of Mississippi on 9/10/20 that was resolved 3/2023. Complaint ID #********

The new door was installed in March 9th. Since installation we have had continuous issues with leaking through the glass, leaking at the thresh hold and around the hardware. We just got a return email this morning after more than a week of providing videos of water coming into the house. They have been back a minimum of 6 times claiming each time their resolution would fix thr problem. I've spent 8k at this point. I want the door removed, my house secured and a refund so I can go elsewhere and get the door replaced. This company is not responsive or being helpful. Itls just a matter of them placing sticky and calling a day. Your help is appreciated. I have video I'm unable to download at this time.

We appreciate the opportunity to respond and address your complaint, we apologize for the inconvenience.
As your complaint states we have made multiple attempts, so we are obviously responsive and committed to resolving the issues. The glass leak issue required silicone, what you referred to as “sticky”. The glass leaks have been resolved.
After discussing your issues with a home inspector, his first question was “do the doors have a proper overhang, a minimum of 3’ to 4’ overhang?”
According to **************** windows and doors, an overhang half  the height of the entry door is recommended for steel and fiberglass doors, overhangs help keep the weather out of the home.
Unfortunately, your doors have zero overhang for protection.
His response was “while exceptions can be found, any leaks are primarily due to no overhang, the problem is an issue of exposure. Doors installed with proper overhangs are generally safe.”
We also see the leak was caused by you spraying water directly on the door, we will need to be present to oversee any water being sprayed directly on the unit.
That being said, we will continue to address the leak at your threshold and will replace the factory hardware if needed.
We will send our install crew with a manager to address this issue. We will also conduct an accurate water test, to ensure leaks are resolved.
      Thanks,
      ****

       Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: The company employee stated in response we don't have coverage or overhang which is untrue we approximately 4' then blame us spraying the door with a garden hose which is their version of a water test, which  they instructed us to do after a new threshold was installed.  I found this dishonest response appalling.    Furthermore, calls and emails are sent without responses.  I emailed the photos of the water coming in after rain on 6/11/23 this morning, however, called them to let them know what was happening the day of the rain.  I got no responses.  Employees who take messages assure me **** will be in touch but fails to do so.  I really am very disappointed in how things have been handled.  As a business owner myself, customer satisfaction is of the utmost importance.  I have had quite a bit of work done this year and haven't had an issue with any contractor with the exception of this one.  I worked very hard and saved for this door for a long time only to be disappointed with a leaking door.  There is a balance which I haven't paid due to the door still leaking when it rains.  Any help you can provide me will be greatly appreciated.

I purchased an iron door 2 in 2021 for $14500. March 25, 2023 the door would not lock. I called MS Iron Works, explained problem. They said the door needed adjusting at a cost of $320. I requested an invoice. After 2 calls the invoice was emailed "door adjustment" I paid with credit card. Couple days later workman came. Stayed 18 minutes saying locks were the problems not adjusting the door. He left no paperwork. Several calls to get copy of completed work order that I paid for. They have not sent it saying they don't do that. They don't send invoices for payments or provide copies of completed work orders. In other words you have no record. Why? I have never dealt with a business that refuses to send an invoice of give you a copy of the work they did that you paid for.

Entered contract with MS Ironworks (MSI) on 12/12/22 for installation of iron door in good workmanlike manner. Fundamental to that agreement was MSI sale pitch 1) that their company's painting process was 3-4 times thicker paint application than competitors and 2) that the door would last for 15+ years provided that the paint job was not scratched or otherwise penetrated. Installation began 1/6/23. Upon end of that day, MSI representative ("******") admitted: 1) upon review of pictures taken by the installation crew--the trim for the door was not correct; 2) door hardware was not yet received; and 3) company installers scratched the door on install. ****** indicated all items would be remade or received and that all would be installed and the scratch repaired in approximately 2 weeks. Company demanded and was paid approximately 80% of the purchase price for work completed. Between 2/1/23 and 4/5/23, homeowner repeatedly requested dates for install of items to be corrected. MSI repeatedly scheduled and then cancelled appointments with little to no warning, costing homeowner leave from regularly scheduled work. MSI finally scheduled and appeared for install completion on 4/5/23. No new trim was installed; installers 'forgot' it. Door hardware was damaged and is missing bolt caps. And installers mis-drilled door for hardware resulting in another scratch/penetration to the door. All scratch/holes attempted repair were covered in single coat spray paint, not like the patented process described at sale AND done in mismatched paint. Homeowner put MSI on notice 3/23/23 that company is in material breach and was allowed until 5/1/23 to remedy. Company has failed in all regards to remedy and homeowner is filing this complaint as first next step. Failure to remedy either through full replacement or refund w/in 5 business days will result in complaints filed with TN Attorney General's Office, Division of Consumer Protection and its MS equivalent.
