We signed a contract with ***** Barnhart on May 6, 2022 for floor and foundation repairs and remodel two bathrooms. He estimated 3 weeks to complete the work. The amount was not to exceed $19,000. That breakdown was not to exceed $9000 for the floor and foundation and not to exceed $10K for the two bathroom remodels. The scope of work was not completed. The work performed was poor workmanship and not satisfactory. The materials we selected and purchased including toilets, flooring, new tub, shower and tub surround systems, exhaust fans and drywall were damaged during the installation and most are not repairable. In addition, our air conditioning ducting was damaged and is in need of replacement after he was working in the attic. The electrical and plumbing work that was done violate safety and code standards. During the job, he stated that the IRS froze his account and we had to write the last two payments in his name (not the companies) so he could cash the checks. We have a 3 page list of things that are not completed or done improperly. When we confronted him he apologized and gave us $800 on 6/30/2022 because he overcharged us. This check was written from his business account which was a bad check and he knew it when he wrote it if the IRS had froze his account. The total we paid was $19,800. We have been trying to communicate with him since 6/30 to get the $800 in cash and he keeps promising us that he is going to pay and then doesn't come through. We have heard that he is trying to leave Vicksburg and move to Hawaii. We want our $800 or more paid back and want to file a complaint to prevent him from doing this to others. We are not the only people he has done this to recently in the greater Vicksburg area. Thank you, **** *** **** *******
