I was seen at the ********** 1/3 for a rapid COVID test and a flu test. When I left, I asked to pay my **** in full, after a few minutes and a couple trips to go get a manager (to which I kept asking, "Can't you just **** me? I do not feel well. The front desk girl's response was that if I pay now, I get like a 40% discount and my **** should be around $100). I waited. My **** was $230.01, I paid and asked for an itemized receipt with codes that I can submit to my health share co-op. I received a credit card receipt with no itemization. I phoned the billing department and requested an itemization with codes. When that arrived in the mail, I learned I owed another $108.80. I called again and asked why and was told the $230.01 **** was a "guesstimation of charges"...this practice is highly unethical. I have been a medical ****** and coder for 20+ years. I have never billed under a "guesstimation". Further, the total expense of $589 for an office visit and 2 rapid tests (of which the government supplies rapid COVID tests for free but Benefis is charging $65) is absurd!THINK TWICE BEFORE GOING TO BENEFIS, HELENA. WE THOUGHT WE HAD A HEALTH CARE SAVIOR BUT CLEARLY BENEFIS PLANS ON FLEECING HELENA PATIENTS!!!!

Benefis provides cost estimates at the time of service, offering patients the option to pay upfront and receive a discount. We aim to provide accurate estimates for services provided to prevent additional billing, but unfortunately, it is not always possible to give a perfectly accurate estimate on the spot, as all medical bills run through our coding department for review before the final charges can be determined. Further, Benefis does not receive COVID Rapid tests for free. We incur a costs for these tests, which we **** to our patients.
