Company is trying to collect for an estimate fee when we were never informed we would be charged that fee. Attempted to call and rectify the issue and was essentially called a liar.

      Business response

      08/26/2021

      In response to complaint #******** ************************************ style="color: rgb(50, 49, 48); margin: 0px; font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;">

***************************** called our service department on March 8, 2021.  The customer spoke with our ****************** Manager, *********************.  The customer requested an electrician to Cap off wiring for lights in ceiling.  The customer did not express the need for a proposal for work.  Our Administrative Assistant, *************************, later called ***************************** to confirm the billing address for the upcoming work.  On April 2, 2021, our electrician, *********************, arrived at the customers house.  Upon ***** arrival, the customer requested a proposal for work prior to work commencement.  **************** reviewed the desired work with the customer.  ********************* returned to the office.  **** explained the scope of work to *********************.  ********************* prepared an estimate for work and emailed the proposal to the customer.  The customer did not respond to Brads proposal.  An invoice was mailed to the customer on April 16, 2021, for services provided; a one-hour minimum for dispatching an electrician to perform electrical work.

      A few additional comments:

      • Our office did not explain that we charge for estimates during the initial phone call because the customer requested an electrician to perform electrical work.  The customer did not request an estimate during the initial phone call or any subsequent phone calls.
      • Our office scheduled an electrician for the customers requested work.  We have a one-hour minimum charge for our electrician.  A one-hour minimum fee is an industry standard.
      • Our electrician arrived at the customers house, prepared to perform the requested work.  Upon arrival, the customer explained they did not want the scope of work completed at that time.  Instead, the customer requested a proposal for work.  This was the initial and only request for proposal.
      • Although not initially requested, Valley Electrical Contracting does charge for estimates.  A typical estimate fee is equal to our one-hour minimum fee.

Valley Electrical Contracting charged the customer our one-hour minimum for service calls.  This is an industry standard.

I hope this helps explain our perspective of this matter.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

I am rejecting this response because:The business response is not true. We called for an estimate on all the work. We never asked for it to be done during that first visit. We were never informed about the cost. The company also does not advertise it so after speaking to our attorney we would request they stop harassing us.

      Sincerely,

      *************************
