For the past month, I have been trying to cancel my subscription to the Missoulian, as I don't read it enough anymore to justify the 15.99/month expense (soon to be 26.99/month). I tried last month to cancel it, but I could not do so online; the portal refers me to **************. I tried to call the number several times, but I was put on hold for 5-10 minutes or more at a time. When I was able to speak with someone, she referred me to "accounting" which never answered at all. Most newspapers will allow a cancellation online, hence the portal. This is outrageous.Initial Complaint

I requested a refund of $260 which I paid for 2 booth spaces at the Ultimate Craft Show presented by the Missoulian Classified, in October 2022.I was not able to attend the event and was told that I would get 100% refund, but not until after the show was held.In December of 2022, I inquired about my refund, since I had not yet received a check.I was told that the refund was approved and it would take a matter of weeks in order for me to get my refund.in February, I was billed for $260 instead of getting a refund check.I was told that this bill was charged so that it could be deducted from the original account and that I would still be paid in a few weeks.It is now April 2023 and still no refund check.I emailed ***************************, Print and Digital Sales Exective at the Missoulian at ************************************* **************, who was in charge of the show.I have not gotten a response to my last email.I feel I'm being scammed out of my money.she has not responded.Initial Complaint

This paper appears to be carrying out fraudulent activity by making it impossible to cancel a subscription.Five and a half months ago, I was invited to sign up for free trial subscription for 6 months, with cancellation allowed at any time.Today, I tried to cancel the subscription after being reminded to do so by a letter from the Missoulian. I called the cancellation line for the paper at **************. I remained on hold for nearly 30 minutes before I had to hang up to attend to another matter. When I tried to cancel my subscription online, by following the instructions on the website to do so, I received a pop-up notice with the following messages, "We're sorry to hear you want to cancel. To cancel subscription, please contact customer service."This process has already taken 80 minutes of my time. My calls and emails all occurred within the business hours of 3:45-5:00 pm. This business needs to improve the way it is handling cancellations - if this is merely poor management - or be forced to stop fraudulent business practices if that is what is happening here.Initial Complaint

I have called the Missoulian several times to cancel my subscription. They continue to charge my credit card for a digital plan. We have not lived in ******** since October 2021. Today I again called (your call is answered in ***************, I believe). The only local phone number I could find is the newsroom and they were not happy to take a call about a bill problem. I will call again and cancel again, but I would like my money back (approximately 12 * 5 = $60, and this month they charged me an addition $4.99 to renew!!!).I wonder how many customers they are doing this to every month.I have credit card statements of necessary, **** of ********************************Initial Complaint

4 weeks ago, I suddenly started receiving the Missoulian Sunday newspaper in my mail. I DID NOT ever subscribe to this, yet I was charged for it. There is nobody in my household who would ever subscribe to this lousy newspaper and I do believe the Missoulian and it's affiliates are running a scam. **************** was able to cancel my "subscription" today, but I want my money refunded for the last 4 weeks I have received this paper that I DID NOT subscribe to. This truly sounds like a scam the Missoulian is running.
