*** is a criminal and should be avoided at all costs. Here is the story of how he stole $1,800 from a young family expecting a baby and is currently evading law enforcement. We hired *** to install chimney liners in our old non-functional chimneys. He claimed he needed a 50% deposit up front, $2400, to purchase parts. *** cancelled the job a week later. No work was done. We asked for our money back. You can probably see where this is headed. After over a month of back-and-forth with him, asking, waiting, and giving more than enough time to come clean, explain himself, or get us anything back, we caught him in multiple lies and it became clear that *** had stolen our money and had no plans to return it anytime soon.We informed *** that unless he refunded us in full or provided parts invoices or any kind of proof that he had spent our money legitimately, then we would be going to the police and court system to reclaim our money unlawfully in his possession. Only then did he return $600 of our money- but still provided no proof whatsoever that he had ever spent our money on parts for the job as he claimed multiple times. He still has $1,800 that he stole and hasnt returned, and by that point had lied to us so many times that we could no longer trust him. When I looked more into Joes actions, I found that what he did is distressingly common. Many professionals make all their money by defrauding one customer after another and never performing any work, and *** appears to be one of these contractors. The Buncombe County Magistrate agreed that Joes actions were criminal and issued criminal summons for him to appear in court. Instead of showing up in court and arguing his case, *** evaded the Sheriff attempting to serve him the true sign of a guilty criminal. Because he evaded the summons, there is now a warrant out for Joes arrest, which will never expire and will get him eventually.Do not hire this criminal. He still has not given us our money back and we have heard nothing from him. If you see him, call the sheriff. If he did this to us, it is almost certain he is doing it to other customers too. He chose the wrong family to rob this time, but hopefully our experience helps save another homeowner from the same nightmare. Finally, if *** responds to my review with some justification of his actions, please ask yourself why a man who did nothing wrong would hide from a Sheriff? He is clearly guilty and knows it. If you have any questions about the legitimacy of my claims, simply call the Buncombe ********************** and ask for details on active warrants for *****************************.
