My mom and I met with PHD Weight Loss for a weight loss program consultation. The consultation was given simultaneously with my mom's, and the conversation centered around my mom. I had doubts about the program, but they were eager for me to sign up. My mom, in support of me, took out a credit card, which included her amount and my amount. After I left and took the time to process, I realized the program was not for me. I called and left a message four days later, stating I would not follow through with the program, had not opened any products, and requested a callback. On Monday, I called early that morning and was told the manager would call me back, but she did not. My mother had to call, and then the manager called me. In both conversations, she was unwilling to help, and it was not until my mom asked that she reach out to her manager that she agreed to do so.I am willing to pay for the services, consultation, and meals I receive, but they are unwilling to negotiate. We were told it was a no-refund policy and that we could take it up with the credit card company. A weight loss company should want clients who are satisfied with the services. If a client has yet to start the program within four days after the contract was signed, contact with the company was made, and the client is willing to pay for services thus rendered, they should work with their clients. We have begun filing for a dispute for services not rendered with the credit card company. We had hoped that as a small business in a town where people know and care about each other, we could have settled between ourselves. Unfortunately, this is not the case. They are not worried about the impact of word of mouth and their rating with the credit card company.Investigate other option but if you go in for a consultation, especially the ********* location, do NOT sign up immediately. Leave and think about it.Review from Margie L

I was really disappointed in the plan. I had expected someone to help me meal-plan as I have many health issues. During the process, I had 2 significant health issues. The food provided during the initial phase was disappointing. Many times, their products were not available further limiting your choices. We paid $5000 + (the cost of the plan) for the plan, and I felt cheated with the overall results. If I wanted to pay more to extend the plan, there would be an additional charge because according to them, the 90 days was adequate time to lose the "ideal" weight (I was on Prednisone for an extended period of time), that in itself was a huge hurdle to try to overcome. Then, because I was unwilling to do that (pay more money), they wanted me to sign a waiver (stating I was non-compliant) because I did not want to pay additional fees to continue. I did ask questions, many of my questions were not appreciated. It was helpful to me that I understand how the "ideal" weight was calculated, I have a science based brain (doctorate). In response, you would have thought I dropped an F-bomb in church. I also called to ask if I could swing by the *********, ** office just to see what it looked like, I had to participate in the on-line program since the closest PhD facility was a little over 2 hours away, & that caused chaos. Overall, the videos were great in reinforcing what I already knew. I was never going to have a ballerina body. After reading the book before joining, I had hoped they were going to be different, but in the end they were the same as other plans that make you eat cardboard then push back when you did not reach their weight goal in their allotted time period. Save your Almighty Dollar & go with the old-fashioned less intake, more water & exercise to get the weight off.PHD Weight Loss Response

This is a scam! My husband heard about it on the radio and tried to research for several months. He had some phone calls with one of their sales reps. *** was very nice and even put us in touch with a current client, who was very pleased with the program. They told my husband they would provide food for breakfast and lunch and a meal plan so I could make him a good dinner. He asked if he could sample any of their foods but they said no. He finally plunked down the money and got his first box of food. It is all powdered and has to be mixed with milk, water, etc. My husband said it all tasted like cardboard and eventually he was nauseated all the time. He called for his counselor and she said they could just make him a meal plan with his own food. He asked for at least a partial refund since he would not be using their food. That was eventually denied because he had signed the agreement which says they have a no refund policy. They are still willing to make a meal plan for him with his phone food for the $6200 he paid them, but he still has to buy food on top of that. A nutritionist doesn't cost anything like that. Think long and hard before you sign up for this.Review from Dennis B.

My wife has tried very hard to loose weight and is very motivated. When she contacted them to inquire, they provided little information about what was being offered and wanted $7K+ up front for their services. When she decided to go another route she the sales person started being more aggressive. After she declined to sigh-up, she received a nasty email with the header "this may offend you". The email was very condescending and disparaging, putting her down. I am pleased she didn't go with these type of people who will only encourage you when you pay them!!
