I had a filling come out in December and had to see dentist right away. I called 12/5/22 and an appointment was available on 12/6/22. I took the appointment and was told I would not be able to make an appointment without a $50 deposit. Which I found odd since they did not ask me for any deposit for my appointment in 2020. I just wanted to get in so I gave them a deposit. Because of my sons health issues I had to reschedule that appointment couple of times and I was finally able to make it on 12/19/22 at 8:30 am. On my way out I paid the full amount I was asked to pay. I then made an appointment for a root canal for 1/4/23. This time I was asked for $100 deposit. Which I paid because I did not want to be a difficult patient. I assumed that’s their standard policy. I contacted HCD on 1/3/23 and wanted to reschedule my root canal because the business I manage ( Oriental antique rug shop) had a pipe burst on 12/26/22 and flooded the entire space. I had to meet with contractors that morning and couldn’t make the appointment. I was told I would be charged $50 for cancelling with little notice. I offered to pay for full amount of the procedure with promise that I will be at the next appointment right there over the phone to avoid the fee but I was told no and that they will deduct $50 from my $100 deposit that they collected. I didn’t want to be a difficult patient and let them deduct $50 assuming that is their standard policy for everyone. I rescheduled my appointment for the 1/24/23 at 10:30 am. My husband (white male) a few days later called to make an appointment for 3 procedures. He was able to make an appointment for 1/24/23 at 10:00 am without putting a deposit down or giving them any credit card information. We both had to cancel our appointment this morning. I am now being charged $50 for cancelling but my husband is not being charged. They don’t realize we are married. I feel that I have been treated unfairly because of my race and religion.
