On 6/12/2024 I called ****'s Plumbing and Repair *** and spoke with the receptionist about having our disposal and drop in sink replaced, as we already had the parts/materials on hand at the house. Receptionist quoted us verbally via phone 2 hours for this job at their $110/hour labor rate. We setup an appointment for Friday 6/14/2024 at 11am. As Friday 6/14/2024 arrived they missed their 11am appointment window, and technician called to say they were running late. I said understandable, please let me know when you are on the way. I had to call them back around 2:30pm and they said they were on their way, 30 minutes away. Technician **** and his assistance arrived at 2:55pm to our house, I pointed them to the kitchen counter where the disposal and drop in sink were waiting to be installed. They began the install and I sat in the kitchen area during this time. During the afternoon the technician **** began talking to his assistant that they should not have taken on the prior job's additional work. Also they both **** and assistant also began counting the time to each other out loud. **** even turned to me and said how long have you been there? I said the entire time listening and watching as they work. They finished the job at 5:55pm but said the office was closed, and someone would call. They left no work order or job completed paperwork was left for my records. I called office right then 6/14/2024 spoke with ***, she said she would have owner ***************** me to discuss but no call back. On Monday 6/17 called back asked for **** again no call back from owner. On 7/2/2024 paper invoice was mailed with outrageous 4 times the cost totaling $841.49 I called 3rd time asked for owner ****, ****** said he was in meeting would call. Still no call back, I paid in good faith $350.00 on 7/2 which is 3 hours of $110/hour plus a $20 transportation fee. This compliant is to make consumers aware of this business owner's business practices and lack of communication/honest upfront costs

I am rejecting this response because: Owner *********************** stated he was too busy to call me back after three separate attempts of me calling the office over 3 weeks! What business owner is too busy over three weeks to NOT call their customers back?!? I still have never heard from owner *********************** via phone to this day. However he took more time to write this BBB response letter that I started as the customer to alert the public, instead of calling a customer in return to address this issue from the beginning. At no time did ***/****** receptionists via phone mention Overtime Rates or normal working hour time periods. Please provide proof in writing or from our phone call via recording of the stated Overtime rates, Over time hours, or lastly the requirement of two technicians your BBB response letter listed to justify and back up your statements. In short this is untrue, and looks to be a business strategy he hopes people just pay to be done with and move on to the next customer. Exactly why technicians do not complete paperwork or create invoice, so *********************** the owner can fictitiously bill customers AFTER the fact. Your receptionist quoted us $110/hour for 2 hours of this job. We paid exactly the $110/hour rate for the TRUE/ACCURATE 3 hours this job took your technician **** to complete, plus the $20 transportation fee. These items listed number 1, 5, 6, are absolutely NOT true in your BBB reply, and your response in writing instead of a phone call timely back to the customer is eye opening how you run your business. Yes your technician was 4 hours late to our 11am pre-planned appointment. I had to call them back to track them down, the office never called to provide any further updates NOR did anyone from ****'s Plumbing and Repair *** via phone or in person EVER mention any overtime costs for your technician's tardiness to the job site. Nor did Owner address the lack of professionalism of his technician **** while completing the job I listed in the original compliant is also eye opening. We paid the $110/hourly rate X the 3 hours of the job plus a $20 transportation fee. If the owner *********************** ever wants to give me a call please feel free, otherwise we have paid our accurate and committed amount for the job that was verbally agreed upon with *** the receptionist that stated the $110/hour cost for their technician/job as noted with my original call to ****'s Plumbing and Repair ***. Consumers beware just because a business has been around for 30+ years, does not justify unethical business practices/lack of responses from the owner. Consumers in the high country have been warned of ****'s Plumbing and Repair *** and proceed with caution!

It would appear ******************** is calling my office personnel liars as to what they have told me and what I had overheard them telling him over the phone. ******************** can say what he wants to , as is his right. I can also say ******************** is a liar and anyone he should call for work done at his second home on Beech Mtn. beware that he will not pay you in full for the work you are requested to do. He would pay you what he thinks he should pay and not a ***** more. As you can expect ******************** is listed as a "no further work" address, which I'm sure he is happy about as we could not satisfy his desires. The balance due our company, if not paid , will be turned over to a collection agency as is our standard practice. My time is worth more to me than the time that will be spent arguing with ******************** over the amount due. ******************** was told about the overtime charge, he was told our hourly prices, our technician did the job he was requested to do. ******************** does not have the privilege or authority to set the prices we charge for our services any more than he can set the prices he will pay at the grocery store. We went and did the work in good faith and we expect to be paid in good faith.

      Cordially yours,

      **************************

I am rejecting this response because: God Bless the owner *********************** of ***********;Plumbing and Repair **** So in his last reply you see where he admitted to overhearing our phone calls, for me to speak with the owner. Yet he still never picked up the phone or called the customer back after three separate attempts of me calling over a 3 week period. My goodness first he said he was too busy to call me back, then he admitted to overhearing the phone calls, yet still to this day he has never provided proof of me agreeing to paying any of his fictious Overtime Charges/incorrect and unethical invoice amount. On good faith honest to God principal I paid the $491.49 to ****'s Plumbing and Repair *** today 7/23/2024 as I feel sorry for the staff and employees that have to work with a dishonest/unethical business owner. You never provided any proof that I agreed to ANY amount in writing or provided any proof via phone recording I agreed to any dollar amount as I requested in these written BBB compliants. I was always upfront/polite and honest with my three separate phone calls to ****'s Plumbing and Repair **** Again the $491.49 was paid today to ****'s Plumbing and Repair *** so the fictitious and incorrect invoice ****'s Plumbing and Repair *** sent is now paid in full. One thing both ***************** and I can agree on is our time is valuable. I hope each individual and family that comes across this BBB compliant in the future will think twice before proceeding with speaking with or working with the owner *********************** at ***********;Plumbing and Repair **** All they have to do is read the entire BBB compliant and they will see what type of unethical owner/business they truly are operating in the high country. As I stated before and I'll state again consumers of the high country beware and proceed with caution. Good Bless you *********************** and your employees!

On 5/5/23, Jeff's Plumbing for them to come to my house and tell that they could not do anything based on what I had already explained to them on the phone and then proceeded to charge me $336.26. On the billing, they said they would also create an estimate to solve my problem and would send me the estimate soon. Two and a half months later, I still have not received an estimate! I believe this company is fraudulent and that I should be reimbursed.

I remember Mr. **** very well along with his service call to his home. He was informed from the beginning about the cost to come to his home to look and survey his issues. Mr. **** gave us his Credit Card number to secure payment for the service call before we went to his residence.  When our technicians arrived they confirmed the situation to be a rust build up inside the metal pipes for Mr. ****'s drain and vent system.  There is no mechanical means to remove the rust buildup inside the pipe. The only way to remove the rust is to replace the pipe. Our technicians gave Mr. **** the opportunity to replace the pipe, however, this would require the creation of a hole in the wall to replace the affected pipe. Mr. **** declined to have a hole put in his wall to replace the pipe. This is stated in the document which Mr. **** supplied.  Mr. **** did not pay for his service call at the time of service. An invoice was sent to Mr. **** for the amount due. Mr. **** called into the office to complain about his bill. He was yelling and cursing over the phone to our office personnel stating he should not have to pay for this service. His manner was so obnoxious that our office personnel told him if he did not calm down they would hang up the phone on him. He continued his yelling and cursing so our office personnel hung up the phone on him. Sometime later, he called back and asked to speak to me. When I called Mr. **** back he continued to yell and curse at me personally calling me every name in the book he could think of. I believe he thought that by acting and speaking this way I would be intimidated enough to cancel his charges, or get into a verbal argument with him over the phone. I explained to Mr. **** that he was responsible for the charges of the service call to his residence, and that he declined our service to replace the rusted pipe in his wall. He stated he would file as complaint with the BBB and leave a bad review on social media. I explained to him that this was his right to do so but he still owed for the service call to his residence. After more yelling and cursing on his part, I told Mr. **** goodbye and hung up the phone. We then proceeded to charge the credit card he had given us to secure payment for our services.

With regards to the estimate to go back and repair his drain line, I refuse to work for anyone who would speak to any of my employees or me the way Mr. **** spoke the us over the phone. Mr. **** will not get a refund for our service to his residence, and he has been placed on our NOT TO WORK FOR list.

I am rejecting this response because:

Who are you going to believe this man or the multiple 1 star reviewers  who all agree with me that this man is a total fraud! The man is a liar! I did not curse to his employee, yes, I did raise my voice to his receptionist only because after making 5 attempts to speak with the owner and constantly getting the run around, I became more empathic in order to emphasis my annoyance that the owner did not have the professionalism or common customer courtesy to speak with one of his customers. When the owner finally realized that I was not just going to fade away without speaking with him, he somehow found the courage to call me back. Instead of discussing my complaint, all he would say is that since I had raised my voice to his receptionist, he would not consider anything that I had to say. The fact is still the same, the man billed me for an estimate after we spoke on the phone and never produced one to this day; so in my opinion, this is fraud!  As far as him putting me on his 'refusal of service list', this is laughable since I would never do business with this scammer again.

No where on the website does it state that if you live in a mobile home that a repair cannot be done. It’s discrimination against me because of my home, not my ability to pay.

      Business response

      01/11/2023

We apologize that you feel discriminated against, but it has been our company's policy for many years that we do not work on mobile homes.  This is due to the fact that we do not stock parts that are normally found in mobile homes which differ from those found in other types of homes.  When someone calls in to schedule an appointment, during our review of the customer's issues we would normally find out the type of residence.  At that point, if we discover that the customer has a mobile home, we would advise that we do not work on mobile homes and recommend they call another plumbing contractor.  We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you, but this is our company policy.
