On the 21st of April I spoke with Chad and we agreed on a price quote of $1875 upon aggreeing I did a down payment of $965 when Chad came out on April the 25th he messed up my fence and cut the tree down he the informed me I owed $2200 and he didn’t fix my fence. When I asked Chad why I owed him this much he informed me I have to pay for his Gas, his workers check, and a miscellaneous fee for a new customer. I paid him $1000 dollars on site in cash. The next day my bank called and said my money had been declined for their services of the $965.00 I pulled what I had together went down to fifth third got a cashiers check and went to Boone to meet Chad he met me around 1730 on April 27th and informed me he wasn’t accepting my money because I owed him $1100 more dollars that he gave me a “discount” I informed him to take the $875 dollars i owe him, he then responded he’s going to put a lean on my house if I don’t pay the $1100 I then responded I was going to get better business bureaus involved in which he responded he’d help set up the email for me that it wasn’t going to help my case in any way.

4/15/21-Called Chad for quote. Main concern: removing, pruning, or cabling trees for safety. With high winds on the mountain., we wanted to prevent damage from trees/large branches falling on house/roof. Although he was abrasive, overly confident, extremely cocky, & evasive on some recommendations, he seemed very knowledgeable. I thought we could trust him to do a good job & back up his work, so I hired him. During quote process, he haggled over trees I asked for his expert opinion on. Said he'd need to charge a "consulting fee" if I had more trees to see, although he'd agreed to come out for a FREE quote, just like the other arborists did! The others were pleasant & professional; he was combative & argumentative. I should've trusted my gut, but he had proper credentials & offered to do it quickly. Unexpectedly, he made a bulk mulch delivery- with no prior call or notice, several days before our scheduled appointment. I hadn't finished weeding & prepping the area but didn't feel I should reject it-so took delivery. It created twice the work to remove weeds through thick mulch. Clearly, it's what's good/convenient for him, NOT the customer. 4/20/21- Paid ck #*** for $1750. ($750 was to CABLE, prune, & deadwood-1 tree off house.) $250 for mulch, $450 stumps, $300 to remove one tree, & a deposit towards the "vista view". 4/26/21-Paid ck #*** for final $1950 when he finished "vista view" job. TL pd. =$3700. 12/2021-Noticed the cable had broken, frayed, & come apart. Jan. 2022- Texted/called several times asking Chad to fix cable. Wk of 1/17, said he'd call 1/25 to schedule visit but never did. Ten days later, (2/4) & 2/12-I texted reminders. 2/11, 15, 17, 2022-Outgoing calls, same. 2/17-Said it would be a while; he had a "fixed schedule" &cable prob. was "uncoupled". Tried to extort more money for "emergency" trip out. I said I was giving him every opportunity to fix it w/o filing w/ BBB. He took that as a threat; "didn't want the opportunity".

After the job was completed we walked the job to go over everything and to make sure it was satisfactory.  It was and she paid in full.  The customer tried to add on an view enhancement and pruning of trees that were not hers with out permission.  I told the customer I would not go on to someone else’s property and prune trees for her benefit.  I told her I need written consent.  After I got written consent I proceeded to prune the trees and clean up the debris.  Cabling trees is an industry practice which requires maintenance. You are putting a foreign object in a living organism that grows so therefore we do a inspection process annually which incurs a cost.  I was willing to come out to do the inspection no problem. The high country in January we had some unexpected storms accumulating over 2 feet of snow.  People were stranded in their homes and we were doing emergency services to help those people get out of their homes.  So we were not able to get out in the timely fashion that she required. She then proceeded to entice me with more view enhancement which I know of the trees she’s referring to that she does not own.   Cabling trees only reduces the risk of failure. They require maintenance but they allow you to enjoy the beautiful majestic trees for much longer but require maintenance. After the customer communicating threats via phone I decided that I did not want to work for someone that is willing to threaten me and asked me to break the law by going on someone else’s property without permission.  We have been paid in full and do not wish to work for this customer ever again.
