Disputing the amount of financial responsibility:I should only be responsible for the contracted amount for in-network services because the staff affirmed that the office, and the provider (*********) were both in-network with my ********** Blue Shield ************* Advantage Plan. (Liberty Dental is my dental insurance provider and BCBS of NC is the administrator of this dental plan).I verified this information via telephone while I was setting up the appointment and when I entered the office for my first appointment.********* is an in-network provider with my insurance plan but not at this **** location and my insurance plan paid the claims as out-of-network.The office staff did not check benefits with my insurer as they should have done because, if they had, my insurer would have told them that ********* was out-of-network at the **** location.I have left 2 phone calls with the office on 5/9 & 6/12/2024 and of this date, no calls have been returned. Ironically, I had an appointment on 6/21/2024 and I received 3 telephone calls, 3 text messages, and 3 emails requesting confirmation of my appointment, I had cancelled my appointment with the 6/12/2024 telephone call. BCBS of NC EOB's (explanation of benefits) state that ********* was in-network and no information on the EOB's indicated that the office was out-of-network: with the 'in-network provider' confirmation on the EOB's, I believed I was in compliance with my insurance policy.How are we, as patients supposed to know about in-network providing services at an out-of-network location?I should not be held responsible for out-of-network amounts as I followed my insurer's PPO guidelines by obtaining care in-network.Thank you in advance for your kind attention to this matter.
