I went to WBWC on 4/27/22 for a basic pap. I called ahead to get an estimate of costs, since I don't have insurance. I got several notices that I would have to pay in full at the time of service, which I did. I was asked to pay $120 at the time of service, but noticed the provider asking about how to code it with office staff as I was checking out. I paid in full with my credit card, but got an additional bill from WBWC for $40 in the mail. I also received a bill from ******* for $479. I got it reduced to $204.50 as a self pay patient. ******* explained the bill was high because additional STD testing had been done on my pap sample, which I didn't authorize or want, based on the way it was coded. They advised to resolve it with my provider to get the correct code, and that if the provider was unsure, they should contact *******. One ******* representative gave me pap only codes that ranged in price from $22 to $44, so I made a payment to ******* for $20 awaiting a resolution. I exchanged emails several times over several months with Director **** *********, who said she couldn't help and couldn't get a response from *******. Both companies ignored my most recent email on 10/31/22 when I CCed both of them of me trying to resolve the matter. I finally received a collection notice, which I'm disputing. I'd like WBWC to drop the $40 additional charge owed to them and cover the cost of the coding error that is now in collections for approximately $184 and apologize for the runaround and lack of taking responsibility.
