      I wish I had read these reviews before I started a mortgage loan application with Ally Home Loans! Terrible experience. I brought up specific concerns regarding the loan in my first conversation with them and was assured there would be no issues. I even asked for the underwriting team to be asked before approving an appraisal - paid for/did the appraisal (never saw it) - then am warned that I might not get the loan 10 days before I was supposed to close on the house - but they weren't sure yet... Was unable to get anyone to talk to me for the next week, just kept getting responses like "we're out of the office", "everything's on track"....They even told my realtor that everything was looking fine. Then 3 days before I was scheduled to close I get an email saying they aren't approving the loan "what would I like to do". No phone call, no letting me know what options I had. Luckily another lender I had spoken to first was able to complete the loan for me, but this was a stressful, horrendous experience.

      Due to a clerical error on the part of Ally, we were unable to make payments despite multiple attempts to set up an account and create a payment schedule. Conversations were conducted each month, including an individual who told us their process is so terrible they provide a 90-day grace ****** of late payments due to the difficulty of setting up a payment schedule. Apparently, that employee was incorrect as we've now been hit for multiple "late payments" despite a previously clean history of on time loans, mortgages, etc. Each attempt at setting up automatic payments resulted in hours long calls that led to more late payments and more hours long conversations. We finally met the one individual who found out the clerical error was a single digit incorrect in a birthdate. Late fees were waved, but **** jumped at the opportunity to report the issue to credit bureaus. After connecting with Ally customer service, the representative was unwilling to assist further in proper steps to rectify or address our impacted credit despite a previously spotless history. The only solution was to write to the president of the company directly via postal service, which we will be doing. This company was founded on preying on individuals with poor financial history and has finally gotten large enough to take on more reliable business from individuals with stable financial backgrounds. They continue their archaic methods and poor services built on this platform and focus on defaulting individuals as a best business practice. This company is a loan shark in disguise, and it is unfortunate they have been given the chance to climb this far in the financial schema of our economy. Please avoid services and request your mortgage servicers and banks to do business with more reputable and established institutions guided by ethics and morality. Unfortunately, this will now be a months long process to rectify the mistakes of an infantile company and repair the damage created by them.

      I am a long time Ally customer for banking and have been happy with their services. I have been very unsatisfied by Ally mortgage and the mortgage process. Be warned that the company does not actually lock in the rate when you do the rate lock. I locked in one rate for x amount of money at closing. Turns out that every time they make a minor change to the loan estimate they update to whatever points are required that day to keep the locked rate. This is extremely deceptive and frustrating when rates are going up almost daily. When asked to make this right they gave a small concession but did not make it right and still said it would change again when they made the next update when I upload the insurance policy. Due to this experience I will be moving all my banking to a new bank once I finish the mortgage process.

      April 2022 closing. Better.com is in bed with Ally Mortgage. The Client coordinators, will not return your calls as she expresses in her auto-reply, that she's too busy looking forward to Friday and, will answer your (3rd) inquiry when she returns. Nothing happens and you will never get that call. This entire process was handled by incompetent people with the exception of a couple that seemed to try and help clean up after the other's before them once your team changes in this process, you are left holding the bag. Ultimately, my loan was sold, not once, but twice, before the 1st payment was due. That you as the customer with the buck being passed to the next servicer that knows nothing about your account or escrow. This is bad business and I strongly recommend that you avoid Ally and Better.com as they do not care once they have their money.

      Oh, how I regret having anything to do with Ally Mortgage. After a recent finance, I was assured on the phone by their agent that my Autopay was operational. Yet they did not take my payment, waited 30 days without informing me by phone, text, or e-mail that there was any problem, then reported me to the credit bureaus as 30 days late. Despite the mistake being on their part, they have refused to correct my credit report. Ally has earned my permanent animosity. Avoid them if you possibly can.

      Avoid them! I should have done my research and looked at what others were saying on here, but I had prior history with ************** and so I didn't do my due diligence. The whole process was a mess from the start. The intake team completely left of key details like us disclosing a second lien and somehow incorrectly entered my wife's employment, even though the application we did showed it correctly. They were quick to lock in a great rate, but then 14 days later walked that back due to "newly discovered circumstances" and then wanted us to lock in at a rate now 40 basis points higher. The intake team even completely misrepresented what the appraisal reconsideration process looks like with them and when it came down to it, again dropped the ball and wanted us to just reduce our cash out instead. Now I will say that our Processing Expert was amazing, but she had her hands full with what the "Loan Consultant" managed to s**** up. In the end it worked out for us because we were so frustrated that less than a week from closing, we shopped around and actually saved a ton through Rocket. Let me tell you, the process with ****** after the stress caused by Ally was refreshing and I intend to share that review on their page. I even gave them the honest feedback after we pulled out of the loan and after 3 weeks the *** team came back and explained why none of it was their fault while leaving out the key details that showed otherwise. Maybe the will improve and deserve another chance, it just will not be me that gives them that chance.

      We started our loan process with Ally and immediately regretted using them. They are easy for pre-approval, but it goes downhill when you actually get a contract on a house and need them to do their job. They could not get an appraisal scheduled to save their life and told us they had a "tentative" delivery date of that appraisal four days before closing (but never had a DATE scheduled for the appraiser to actually see the house, leaving no time to adjust or negotiate a resolution if the appraiser flaked or came in lower than expected). When you asked your processing agent any questions about this, he had no idea what was going on either, had to "put in a ticket" to get an answer from the "valuation team", who basically could do nothing more than say "we reached out to the appraiser for an update", but there was no sense of urgency or tenacity to resolve the fact that they picked an appraisal company who wouldn't even schedule time at the house. If you didn't like the answer, you couldn't talk to the valuation team yourself, you had your processing agent acting as a gatekeeper, and putting in tickets to teams to get answers, which often didn't answer the question you ask, so you had wait for your inexperienced processing agent to put in ANOTHER ticket, etc. etc. etc. TLDR: Too many cooks in this kitchen, the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing, and no care or concern for the client and the uncertainty all this nonsense creates in trying to plan a move, sell their existing home, and have any sense of confidence that Ally wouldn't s**** this sale up at the last minute with their gross incompetence and lack of initiative.Ten days in we realized what a nightmare Ally was and we switched to a local lender who gave us the same rate and - I kid you not - got an appraiser SCHEDULED to SEE the house the next day.Ally is awful to work with and I would not recommend using them under any circumstances, especially in a crazy house market where sellers hold all the cards and you need everything to go smoothly. If you like chaos, stress, and uncertainty...by all means use Ally.
