My bedroom ceiling collapsed suddenly on June 13, 2024. The adjuster is unable to determine what caused it & said it is therefore not a covered event. They denied the claim & when I asked to speak to a supervisor, he refused to allow me. When I asked for an immediate appeal, he said there was no appeal.Business response

After speaking to *********************** in April of 2023, I was quoted a yearly premium of $3,059 on April 30, 2023, with effective date of May, 01, 2023. The monthly payments were scheduled to be $255.00 for 12 months. *********************** was fully aware that I would have another 16-year old driver coming onto the policy in just a couple of weeks. Though I expected an increase because I have two other children on my policy, I would have never expected the astronomical increase that would occur later. On May 23, 2023, I added my daughter onto our policy as a new driver. I was disappointed to find out that another $1,977.00 endorsement would be added to my premium. That seemed excessive, especially in relationship to when I brought my first two children onto my policy when I was with another insurance carrier. Even after an accident and a speeding ticket by my first daughter, my premium never jumped that high. I was now paying $455.00/month, $200.00 more. This was an increase of 78%. Unbeknownst to me, on May 23, 2023, Selective Insurance added another $675.00 endorsement to my policy without ever notifying me. *********************** said it was because they mistakenly gave me a multi-policy/homeowners discount. *********************** knew full-well I did not own a home and that there was no other policy with MPB Insurance/Selective Insurance. This is a classic BAIT and SWITCH. At no time was I ever notified of this mistake. Again, if I had known, I would not have stayed with Selective Insurance. But my monthly payment stayed at $455.00/month from June 1, 2023 November 1, 2023. Selective finally decides to actually apply the $675.00 endorsement they mistakenly discovered SIX MONTHS earlier. Starting December 1, 2023, my monthly payment was now $590.00. My monthly payments would average out to over $600.00 if this disputed $388.00 was factored in. Again, an overall increase of over 130% from my original first payment.Business response
