I was pleased with the interactions I had with the doctor and staff I was xrayd, the doctor came in and advised the pain I was feeling was due to arthritis and recommended a shot he further stated that because I had surpassed my out of pocket spend for the year (this was in late 2023) that he would recommend shoe inserts that would also be of benefit in reducing/managing the related pain/discomfort. The way he phrased it, there would be no cost to me. I wasnt pleased with the experience of getting scanned for the inserts and the tech had me trying to hold my feet in unnatural and uncomfortable configurations. I picked up the inserts and realized after trying to wear them for a few days that it was not of any benefit for my foot pain, did not fit well within even my largest shoes.About a month letter I got a bill from F&AA for $500 because my insurance rejected the expense. My insurance also sent information about what they paid F&AA - according to BCBS, I would need to pay F&AA $249.95 - they showed that the inserts werent covered , but that through the discounts and price agreements with F&AA what I would owe would be half of what F&AA was attempting to charge. Because of what the doctor advised and that I had exceeded my out of pocket spending for the year - I reached out to insurance to inquire why the inserts were not covered that it was prescribed treatment, the doctor advised it would be covered - ins said it was because of the code used by F&AA, and if the doctor would review that and correct it, it should be covered. *** advised that and still nothing. I would have rejected the inserts if Id known the cost (regardless if ins was paying or not).Liked the doctor and the short term results from the shot, but the shiesty, over-priced inserts and billing me for them instead of proper coding to insurance means Ill never return.
