            came in for a yearly inspection. was told that i failed for a leaky power steering pump. cost was around $600 for the repair. When i started driving the car I noticed the leak had gotten worse. When i took it back they said i had a leaking hose connected to the power steering unit. The hose was damaged during the work. they refused to honor the service and refused to fix it with out a additional fee of $400 to replace the hose they damaged. The hose cost $40 online. i don't know where they get their parts but i assume they are charging 10 times the cost to replace the parts.

            The power steering pump was leaking at the inspection time, which was in May, Customer brought the vehicle back in August, exactly 3 months later and 2,222 miles later with another leak. If the hose was damaged at the installation of his pump it would not have made it 3 months. The hose leak is no fault of ours. It is like a leaking dam, if you plug the one major leak that is seen when the pressure builds up it will go to the next weakest point. Our parts are bought from Napa and they come with a warranty. The warranty will cover the part for 2 years and labor for 2 years or 24,000 miles. Some parts will have a limited lifetime warranty. Parts are marked up, like everything purchased in this country, but not 10 times.

            i agree it is a slow leak in the hose. the leak had to have started when the pump was replaced. The hose is not a moving part. The issue really is the cost. a $400 quote to replace a high pressure hose is excessive if the hose itself can be purchased on line for less that $40..I agree the tools needed are what your business offers. but the cost for the hose from napa was quoted around $170 and the labor was quoted at 2 hours. The problem i have is that your team replaced the pump and more than likely damaged the hose as it is a fixed item. the leak pointed out to be around a seal where the rubber connects.. It is not a moving part and was not noticed until the pump started making sounds of not having enough fluid. i would have thought a reputable business would have at least offered to repair the item since it was their fault in damage.. your stating that the part failed on its own is false. your team damaged it when you replace the pump.
