I have contacted Hartsell & Williams on 2 separate issues. One had to do with an order of protection against a separate party and the other was counsel for a divorce request, I felt good after speaking with Attorney *****. He contacted me and told me what he wanted me to do, I did it by filing form 30B, which would have expedited my order of protection but was denied. I had a hearing set up for Valentine's *** and needed counsel. I was told if my protection was dismissed then they could not do anything but it was not dismissed because I was offered a hearing. The assistant gave me a run-around and then told me there was a conflict of interest and they would not be representing either one of us. Why wasn't this told to me before after dealing with them for at least a week? I checked with my legal service, and they stated that as long as we did not pay for legal with them, one of us should have been able to no matter if we both had legal aid. I would have respected them if they said they did not want to take the case and stop making excuses. I asked them about representing me for my divorce and I informed them that my husband was in a separate room since August 16, 2023. They told me they would be able to provide counsel once he was out of the house. Excuse me if you do not provide counsel, how do I know what direction to take with my situation? Isn't counsel supposed to give guidance first? Unbelievable. I would recommend going elsewhere if you want someone to have your best interest at heart. This was my worst experience with a law firm. Maybe their assistant needs better training. I believe her name was ****** or *******.
