  My wife and I own a lot on Rhodhiss Lake and contacted ****** to get an engineered dock design drawn up for our permit. After two email requests, she replied that she would be able to get an engineer to draw them up for us for $650 (I thought that was a fair price). She then emailed back asking for a $300 deposit so they would start on the design and it would take about 2 weeks. I sent the money that day. Two weeks later ****** sent an email asking to the balance and the engineer would have the designs the next day. I sent the remaining $350 that day. Seven days later I emailed her for an update. No reply. Four days after that, I emailed again. No reply. The next day I emailed asking for some designs or a refund. I finally got a reply saying that she is sure the engineer has he designs. That was 6 days ago. I have since asked only for a refund. Once again, no reply and no refund.

  I was referred to ************************* of LKN Permits by a realty agent to assist with permitting a new dock on a property on Lake ****** that I own. Considering multiple agencies were involved, the process seemed complicated enough that I considered using a professional would be prudent.Met with ************************* (sole proprietor of LKN Permits) at the property and wrote her a check for $1600 ($300 of which was her fee/$1300 permit fees) to begin the process. It is important to note that I signed no contract and was only given a hand scratched receipt for the payment.A few months later I chose my contractor for the build, and they have in-house permitting. Given the new circumstances, I reasonably requested a refund from ****** and she adamantly denied my request. I offered her to keep her $300 fee and just return my permit dollars, which were yet to be submitted. Again, after multiple requests she declined to release MY money. To this day she retains my stolen funds. I am filing an on-line small claims case as well as reporting this incident here with you. I just want my permit money back. ****** has only 1 site visit and a trip to her bank involved here. She is not entitled to keep my permit fees?!
