Approximately 10 months after I purchased hearing aids, I received an email stating I had a balance of $2,431. My purchase agreement dated 8/4/2023 clearly shows a balance of $0 after I paid my out of pocket payment of $3,296. I have learned that the provider never requested a pre authorization for the $2,431 because it wasnt required from my insurance company ********** Blue Shield. However, when I told ****** Cristobal that I did not think my window of eligibility was open she said they would investigate it and then told me I was eligible. At no point did they reveal they never requested a formal letter of confirmation. I just learned they didnt because they say BCBS didnt require it. I was told this when they sent a request for payment 6/12/24. I believe this is predatory sales practice. There are inconsistencies with the information provided to me. I only agreed to pay my out of pocket expense after the insurance benefits had been applied. I never would have agreed to pay the entire amount because I thought my window of eligibility was only five months away. The provider made clear to me I was eligible for the insurance benefit right away. BCBS has no record of a prior authorization request. All the provider did was verify the benefits but not my eligibility at that time. Any reasonable consumer would expect a $0 balance means exactly that and the provider confirmed the client was eligible for the benefit at that time. The provider also did not respond to my email or voicemail messages for about a week when I was trying to clarify a discount coupon I received shortly after I purchased the hearing aids. When they did take the call, I was told I couldnt return the aids on that Monday because the deadline expired the previous Friday. I am concerned I am a victim of senior citizen fraud by way of predatory sales practices that are at the least unethical
