When I asked questions, he said I was "a busybody." This contractor kept repeating "trust me," and to hold all questions or concerns until the work was done...But there were multiple concerns: Incompletely secured nails and exposed nail tips. He didn't ask if I preferred nails to screws and later explained it was because he knew I was concerned about cost. But wouldn't that be my decision? He patch-worked the lattice work which looks awful, and patched the "beauty board." He moved and re-laid flagstone, but it cracked because they were not set well. Water is pooling with mosquitos breeding because of lack of grading. Poor lumber quality; I was told it would be "premium" decking.Poorly cut miters.An un-level step.Things offered (though some admittedly not it the contract) which were not done.Didn't even apologize for running over a flowerbed.The handrail is...sigh. There are still nails that are not sunk correctly.Patch-worked lattice, and decking/rail boards that will warp long before they should. Even when I asked him to please correct multiple concerns, he would not do a thourough job. ...so much more. Before hiring him, I checked his license and he had to re-up his license before we started. He began work before he had the permit and then expected me to pay the violation fee (which I did, but I deducted it from the final tally because it was never completed). I ended up asking him not to come back because it was too much stress. This contractor, ********************************, failed the final inspection and then told me I had turned the inspector against him! He could be heard yelling at his worker, and even yelled at me; he called me "nice-nasty" and threatened to "take next steps" when I refused to pay the last $140 because the job was not complete. I have twenty or more photos of what a realtor neighbor called, "shoddy work." I was terribly disappointed in this work. He was disappointed with me.
