On December 10th, I contacted Carolina Key to purchase two key fobs for my car to be programmed and to be cut. Carolina Key claims the keys are original from the manufacturer (i.e., OEM) and are backed by a 60 day guarantee. I paid $482.63 for this service via the phone. On December 21st, I went to Carolina Key to pick up and have programmed my key fobs. The owner spent 10 minutes trying to program the keys but was unsuccessful. He insisted the key fobs were fine but my car had electrical issues that I needed to get fixed before he could program the key fobs. He gave me two unmarked, unlabeled, uncut, and unprogrammed key fobs in a sandwich bag. I asked for the original packaging materials and an invoice from the manufacturer but the owner refused and became agitated, so I left. On December 23, I took the key fobs to *************, a licensed Toyota auto shop. The service personnel checked my car for electrical issues but found none (I have documentation of this). I asked them to program the keys that Carolina Key had given me. They tried but were unable (I have documentation of this). They also stated that the keys provided by Carolina Key are not OEM but aftermarket. I texted this to Carolina Key, but they did not respond. On December 28th, I called Carolina Key. Staff answered and said the owner would contact me again shortly. They never called back. On January 2nd, I emailed Carolina Key. After some back and forth over the next two days, Carolina Key insisted that ************* was wrong and he was right. He gave no documentation. Carolina Key stated that they would give a partial refund. However, Carolina Key never gave any refund. On January 24th, I called ********** for assistance with the keys. ********** was unable to program the two key fobs sold by Carolina Key, stating they are the wrong model for my car. However, ********** was able to program another set of key fobs without any issue (I have documentation of this). Carolina Key now refuses to respond.
