Hughes Masonry repaired and replaced mortar on the brick front steps, chimney & brick work along a concrete pathway behind my house. ***** the company owner met with me 9/13 to review my current situation, evaluate what needed to be done, along with any concerns I might have. I needed decorative stone shoveled off the walkway that was covering the bricks that were lining the walkway. I also pointed out the glass landscape lighting on a portion of the walkway. This lighting is old and cannot be replaced. Hughes Masonry proposal included shoveling the walkways, power washing all the areas and the repairing the mortar. Other masonry repair businesses would only do the masonry work. I would have had to also schedule and coordinate additional businesses to shovel the walkways and then do the power washing. Hughes Masonry does it all. When asked about warrantees, the other businesses offered a 1-year warrantee on labor and materials.
I received a very detailed written proposal the next day. It also included a 5-year warrantee on materials and workmanship. I had a few follow-up questions that were answered promptly. The project was scheduled to start on 9/29 and take approximately 3 days.
***** and his crew arrived on time on the 29th and started immediately. The crew was very hard working and professional with attention to details, along with respect for your property. All materials in the front of the house were contained within a small area and not very visible from the street. At the end of the workday, everything that could be was loaded back in the truck and removed. Anything that was left was either put in a small area in the front of the house or moved into the back yard.
I had a one additional minor item during the power washing that they also took care of. At the end of the 3rd day, all equipment and debris were removed. You could not tell that they had been here for 3 days. The repair work was excellent. I am unable to determine which mortar joints are over 30 years old and which were replaced. My only regret is, I didn't take any pictures BEFORE they started. I would highly recommend them. They are a 5-STAR business!
