In December, I went for a fuel injection/spark plug service, which cost me $1200. Two weeks later, my engine began to overheat. After discovering a coolant leak, I returned to the service center on 2-21-2024 for repairs. Initially quoted $2200 for a water pump replacement, I negotiated the price down to $1100. During the repair, they found a cracked thermostat housing, increasing the total to $1300.However, 21 hours after picking up my car on 2-22-2024, while driving on the highway, my car unexpectedly began to reverse while in drive, with transmission fluid pouring from it. Despite having been inspected twice by the same service center in the last two months with no reported transmission issues and with satisfactory transmission fluid levels, my car was now experiencing severe problems.On 2-23-2024, I had the car towed back to the service center at their suggestion. They claimed the issue was related to the transmission, but since they had not been working on the transmission, they denied responsibility. They suggested I seek payment from my college for repairs, even after being informed that this was not an option.Furthermore, they refused to cover the towing fees, amounting to an additional $125 for a mere 0.8-mile tow, stating that they were not at fault. The manager even raised their voice at me, insisting they had done all they could, despite clear evidence to the contrary. It seems they took advantage of my situation as a college student with car troubles, assuming they could continue profiting from my college's grants.
