Theyre responsive to questions and easily facilitated a long distance purchase. Our house is beautiful and looks like it will last quite a long time, with our two kids and two dogs!

Great experience. We really love our new home. My husband and I were very pleased with the timeline to build our home. We thought it would take much longer. Everyone with Caviness and Cates have been easy to work with. The project manager is great. He has been a big help. So far all of our concerns have been addressed in a very timely manner. We did find a few more issues and we will submit to the warranty department. Great team to work with. Thank you!

My husband and I were very interested in this builder because they allowed us to select the items we wanted in our home in Winston Estates- lot 26. On 3 November, 2021, Jessica M.(New Home Specialist) stated in her email to us "estimated completion time should hopefully be May/June timeframe"; in which my husband and I gave wiggle room to the end of July as a completion time due to COVID and trades, etc. We express this concern to Nicole O. (Builder Representative for Caviness & Cate), that we are moving from Maryland to North Carolina, schools starts in NC in August. 17 Nov 2021, Nicole stated in an email to us if "they(C&C)" get the contract in right away, a few changes we inquired about would still be possible. We signed our contract 22 Nov 2021. The first Project Manger (whom we never met, nor introduced ) to Harrison was replaced at some point. 12 January 2022 (3 MONTHS LATER) Harrison told Nicole the slab would be ready to pour after inspection, but bad weather could delay. Our realtor drove by the house on 18 January 2022 and just to happen met the "new" project manager Stone (who was new to the project in the last few weeks. The foundation/masonry John was there as well waiting on the for the county to inspect so the foundation can be poured. His contact info as request but denied because he said it's policy not to give out their numbers. At some point on 12 January, Nicole spoke with Harrison who stated the slab was ready to be pour. Meantime, we are receiving pictures of (no progress) weekly with no explanation as to what we are looking at. 28 January, still NO SLAB (bad weather is what we were told, AGAIN). FF to 11 April, arrive for pre drywall walk through, was told lot 26 will not be finished by August, only option is to give you your money back. Termination letter was in our email less than 2 hr leaving. The refund check was approved, cut, dated, signed and mailed the same day. Now the home is $70K more with a new offer. So sad.

This is certainly not the experience we intended to provide, and we regret that the buyers chose to terminate their contract and receive a refund due to delays. However, we have no control over constraints on materials, permitting, and inspections. Further, we did inform these home buyers up front that delays were to be expected and that no exact closing date could be given. The home buyers signed a letter at the time of contract on November 22, 2021 where we stated in part "Construction Delays: The construction industry as a whole is experiencing significant delays in the supply chain including, but not limited to, windows, doors, cabinets, piping, lumber, paint, and roof trusses. In addition, each municipality has their own constraints on permits and inspections which we have no control over. Please understand, we are unable to give exact closing dates because of the vulnerability of the supply chain. We will do everything we can to update you on delays of building products in your home, keeping in mind that your update may be that we don't know when a product or service will be available or delivered..." Then throughout the build we did provide weekly updates. Before the pre drywall meeting in April, we did inform the buyers that cabinets were delayed, and we could not give an accurate closing date until they came in. In summary, circumstances were out of our control, we were up front and honest about what to expect, and we did allow the buyers to terminate their contract at their request and we gave them a refund. We wish them well in their new home search.
