Hired company to install sprinkler system and grade front and back yard to lay down 5,500 sq foot of Bermuda. Company informed me they are licensed and insured. They ordered sod from Carolina Turf that was delivered on Wednesday, they did not begin any prep work to include the sprinklers until Wednesday. On Wednesday there was a heavy rain and since they already had the sod (sod begins to die within 12 hours) they were forced to continue work during the rain. My house soil is mainly clay and they decided to use a bobcat to remove my fence, and remove the soil during the rain. This created a marshy, muddy mess and they could not grade or prep my front and backyard appropriately. They decided to lay the sod down over the marshy ground and nothing was even or level. They essentially skipped out on the prep work and most sod companies would not work during rain. I found water bottles under the sod, I found sod laid over sod (this is bad as it kills the sod and doesn't let it catch to the ground) much of the sod was laid uneven, nothing was cut properly, and they ran out of sod in certain areas and just left it as is. The soil under the sod is marshy and you will sink under, I had to contact a professional company that recommended throwing the sod away and redoing the grading which is going to be thousands of dollars. Lastly, the sprinkler system installed was illegally tapped into the city water line and it is now leaking and a professional plumber will have to be hired to avoid penalties,fines, and exorbitant costs from leaking city water. They charged me 1k over the half deposit without my permission. 5k instead of 4k and I informed them they are fired and would not pay any remaining amount. I had to change my credit card as he wrote it down and kept saying he would charge it. I am now left with uneven dangerous side and unlevel ground bringing water towards the house and leaking sprinklers that were illegally installed.
