My problem with this business is excessive charge. The extenuating circumstance is a search for batteries and charger. The service provided, could have been performed on site. I was charged towing and approximately 14 hours. The hourly rate was approximately $90.00 an hour. My forklift was returned inoperable. I was told it work fine. Why footage of it doing check would have sufficed as proof. I have yet to enjoy my lift truck. An estimated 14 hours was performed on my lift truck, by an individual who was outside of his skill set. Having spoken with Crown Ltft Truck, l was told approximately 3 hours was sufficient to perform this operation. I purchased batteries and chargers, to no avail. Why did I have to pay for incompetence. Once my truck was at their shop I felt trapped. Please justify the charges and return the excess.Business response

Dear BBB,
We have reviewed the complaint Id # ********. Our response is as follows:
Customer requested ****************** ******** **** to check out his Crown model # SC4040-40-TT190. We were authorized by ******************** to pickup his unit and bring it to our shop. (see 2nd attachment). Unit needed to be picked up due to No Start issues. Unit came in with a separate charger and a large battery in the forklift. Unit could not be tested on site due to being inoperable. Battery needed to be removed by another unit due to size as well. Customer advised he had recently purchased the used unit and was having issues trying to start. Customer wanted to purchase a Charger for the unit. Originally we sold a charger to the customer. After tech told customer the batteries needed replacement, customer wanted charger refunded. ****************** Service refunded customer the charger. At this time customer wanted unit to be looked at by our tech.
While unit was in the shop, tech for Davis Lift Truck Service evaluated and tested the no start issue. #1 Charger customer had would not work. This unit requires Battery and Charger both to be in working order. # 2 Lift had broken wires in harness. Afterwards, tech repaired wiring from ignition switch to the main controller. Positive wire had to be run to the ignition. #3 Battery was tested for voltage check and found that 2 cells needed to be replaced in battery or customer would need to purchase a new battery. Davis Lift Truck Service used our charger and battery to get running and charge unit and advised customer his charger would not work as long as cells in his battery were defective. Unit worked with our charger and battery. Customers charger would not work due to dead cells. ******** was advised to replace his battery for his unit to be operable.
Customer contacted our office 8 months later. He stated that he was going to pay for Crown Lift to repair his unit. He was asked to supply a bill for the other companies charges and we would reinburse him due to his verbal demands and dissatifaction. The tech that worked on his unit has 30+ years of Forklift and Material Handling Equipment expertise. This was not due to any incompetence of our technician. The customer purchased an inoperable unit without checking out prior to his purchase. Our business has been in operation for 54 years and we take pride in our work and always have customer satisfaction foremost.
Our company is willing to give a customer satisfaction refund of $250.00. We will issue a check in the amount of the $250.00. We will not give a credit on the account due to our company no longer working on any units from this customer. We are not admitting any fault on our behalf. We are only trying to please a dissatisfied customer. However, we would recommend the customer to check out used units prior to his purchase and make sure they are operable at the time of the purchase.
Thank you for contacting our business and giving us the opportunity to explain all circumstances.
