We hired ********************* Balcazar with Balca ********* construction to demo an old foundation, do basement, and help dry-in our log cabin close to the beginning of 2024. Quotes and estimates that were given ended up doubling, the dry-in was not completed, big mistakes were made throughout the entire process including not meeting code on some things to which we have been having to correct ourselves at our own expense, he had us rush a check to him to order concrete for our basement and decided to not do it and is refusing to give us our money back. Needed items from our log cabin kit were stolen and some still not returned as we confronted him and had him return some of the heavy timbers, etc.. we paid over $33,000 for the dry-in he initially quoted at under $16,000 for a small cabin kit. **** is an unlimited licensed general contractor and he knows better than this type of behavior. We were taken advantage of by this GC who is supposed to be a professional and he comes off as kind and smart, yet we are left with a lot of costly mistakes and unfinished work. I have all invoices, texts, and pictures/video proof of all of this. I have tried to reach out and have been met with avoidance or odd text responses that do not make a lot of sense. He said he would send us a check for remainder of the account which has been about a month ago and said he would send a list explaining why he thinks we still owed him money which was his justification for deciding to keep the $6,575.63 we paid him to do the concrete for the basement. He also ran his bobcat into our building and partially tore into it which will now have to likely be tore down. He owes us money and still has also not replaced 2x6 T&G that he destroyed from cutting and laying it wrong in the loft and ended up using all of iur extra to fix it. He agreed to replace any that was damaged, but has not. The list is too long of all of the issues with this builder and I hope he doesn't get a chance to keep taking advantage of good people.
