Like many in ************ - we hired Hand Built Dreams - ***** and ***************************. BAD MOVE!***** talks a good game and tells so many "stories" he can't keep up with what he has said or texted.We hired HBD back on April 16, 2024. Projected start date June *****, 2024. Paid HBD at the time of signing $3853.50 which was 1/4 of the projected cost of $15,414.58. The2nd payment of $3853.50 to make it a 50% deposit happened on May 31, 2024; as this was right before HBD / *********************************** were supposed to start work for us. On both occasions, ***** had the check at the bank within an hour or so and cashed them. There is no "business" bank account and for a reason.***** had contacted us in mid May wanting to move up the start date. We agreed. Start date came and went. Many texts / phone calls / excuses later - ***** finally shows up on June 10, 2024 to start the demo of our master bath shower at about 1 pm. Does a partial demo and finds mold - which we all knew about. He stops the demo and goes out to his truck to write up another estimate for those repairs - originally $2,800 (reduced to $2,300) to replace a couple of wall 2x4's, 6ft x 6ft subfloor, and spray some KILLZ on the rest. Does not finish the demo.Then all the excuses started why he couldn't show up on the job. Main reason - he works 2+ jobs at the same time and if you give him and inch - he takes days / weeks.He went thru 3 phones that we know of. *** never texted us to give us a reason why he wasn't showing up that day or week. He even told us he had worked ***** days straight and then it changed to since 2019 - so he needed to rest. He was off working other jobs as his wife / business partner told us.Finally we'd had enough and started looking for a new contractor as we knew ***** was not coming back. He didn't either.He has threatened us with breach of contract and even slander / libel / defamation. Sent us a fake legal letter to. Said I'd meet him in court and filing.
