Accuvision upcharged for a service not required. In addition refused to help file the correct insurance claim after discovering their was an error with the insurance company the charge was filed. Back office was rude, unwilling to help, and not wanting to listen. Terrible service and a rip off. Target should be ashamed to associate with such a low level company.Business response

The patient booked his appointment online and put his insurance information in the insurance area of the online appointment section. My staff checked the benefits for the patient based on the info provided and according to his medical insurance(the plan he gave us) there was a discount plan that we honored and only charged him this copay. He also elected to receive a service for photos of the retina instead of being dilated. We have a page dedicated to explaining why these photos are beneficial as well as explaining that they are $29 and not covered by insurance. The patient checked the line that he wanted to have the photos and was willing to pay the $29 and signed this form indicating so. He then paid for the copay and the photos and received the prescription for glasses. Days later he returned and was belligerent to my staff saying we ripped him off. He was directed to speak to my manager and she offered to file his other insurance that he never told us he had at the first visit and that we would reimburse him once we get paid by the insurance company. He then proceeded to cuss her and say that he wanted the refund now and that he also wanted a refund for the photos that he signed for. When my manager told him that he signed to have the photos he said "who reads that s*** anyway?" We have no problem filing his other insurance and reimbursing him if we get paid for the claim even though it is the patient's responsibility to know their insurance at the time of the visit. Please let me know if you want any other info. I can provide the signed form from his exam if that isn't against HIPAA.
Thanks,
